Job description

Position Overview

  • The Manager, Packaging Artwork Operations leads a cross-functional team that converts approved creative into print-ready packaging, accurate GS1 data, and retailer-ready digital content for a broad portfolio of fresh-food SKUs. You will oversee daily execution, streamline artwork and commercialization processes, manage vendor relationships, and drive continuous improvement to shorten cycle times and reduce errors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team leadership - Direct, coach, and develop Packaging Artwork & Marketing Services Specialists; set objectives and manage workload.
  • Artwork & pre-press management - Own routing, regulatory/technical checks, dielines, proofs, and printer release; monitor first-pass print accuracy.
  • GS1 data & barcode governance - Assign GTINs, generate/verify UPC/EAN and coupon barcodes, maintain master data, and liaise with GS1.
  • Digital-shelf syndication - Publish product data, images, and rich content to Syndigo, NielsenIQ Brand Bank, and major retailer portals; close scorecard gaps within SLA.
  • Packaging changeover & commercialization - Coordinate timing with Supply Chain to balance inventory and customer requirements; communicate status across functions.
  • Marketing support services - Oversee website product locator, collateral, trade-show assets, premium merchandise, Bartender label system, and PO/invoice approvals.
  • Process ownership & continuous improvement - Design and refine SOPs; implement system enhancements (Esko, BLUE, Loftware, SmartFlow, etc.); report KPIs and drive Lean/Six-Sigma initiatives.
  • Vendor & budget management - Manage agencies, printers, pre-press, and clearinghouse partners; track scopes, timelines, invoices, and departmental budget.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in CPG or food manufacturing packaging graphics, artwork operations, or product information management, including 2+ years in a people-management role.
  • SAP experience (material master, packaging BOMs, or PIM integrations).
  • Proficiency with an artwork management system (Loftware, Esko, BLUE, WebCenter, or similar) and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GS1 standards, UPC/EAN (1D/2D) barcode creation, and coupon barcode management.
  • Experience publishing product content through Syndigo, NielsenIQ Brand Bank, Salsify, or comparable PIM/MDM platforms.
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements that reduce cycle time and improve data accuracy.
