Job description

Position Summary:
The safety and health of employees take precedence over any other duties of this position.
Coordinates all direct sales activities relative to those accounts and prospective accounts found within assigned area of responsibility. Maintains a regular contact with those accounts and prospective accounts in an effort to grow existing businesses and to also seek out new products and service opportunities. Strive continuously to enhance Sonoco's overall position in all served markets and potential markets.
What you'll be doing:
  • Prepares and maintains updated account plans for major accounts and prospective accounts found within assigned area of responsibility. Implements and coordinates activities relative to each account plan and monitors each plan for effectiveness.
  • Utilize CRM on a daily basis to manage and track sales calls, leads, opportunities and sales activities. As well as keeping CRM up to date for all customer specific data such as address and key decision makers.
  • Provides appropriate personnel with progress reports covering each account plan on a regular basis
  • Monitors closely all activity at each customer and prospective customer location and reports on expansions, closings, business trends, and all other factors impacting volume levels.
  • Perform margin analysis for all customer deals (existing and new). Understand market pricing vs. Sonoco pricing with acceptable margin limits as defined by the business.
  • Maintains detailed customer files (share, relative quality, relative price, specifications, contacts, competitor, etc.) on an ongoing basis.
  • Establishes and maintains multi-level contacts at all major existing and prospective accounts.
  • Seeks out and promotes new product and service offerings as well as new uses for existing product lines and potential candidates for acquisition.
  • Provides immediate supervisor with sales projections for products and customers within assigned area of responsibility for use in developing sales budgets and forecasting
  • Investigates promptly and accurately customer complaints and coordinates the resolution of these complaints to the complete satisfaction of these accounts.
  • Assists division marketing with trade shows, conventions, and trade association meetings as requested.
  • Stays abreast of current selling techniques and makes every effort to constantly improve product knowledge and knowledge of the marketplace.
  • Serves as coordinator for regional accounts as requested by management.
  • Champions new products and services as requested for the region and/or the division.
  • Submits expense reports, reports of call, and itineraries on a weekly basis and all other reports on schedule.
  • Promotes company goodwill and maintains proper relationships with customers and prospective customers.
  • Protects assets, confidential and restricted information, developments, specifications, materials, legal obligations, and other such data in contacts with external parties.
  • Complies with all company policies.

Location & Travel:
  • Ideal candidate locations include Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin.
  • Requires 50%+ travel depending on candidate location

Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this role is from $124,800 to $140,400, plus an annual target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
