Job description

Gardant is seeking an experiencedMaintenance Specialist to support our Communities across multiple sites. Reporting to the AVP of Ancillary Services, you will be the go-to expert for critical building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, refrigeration, and more. You'll help our maintenance teams stay sharp, compliant, and prepared, while making sure every Community you support feels like home for residents and staff alike.

This position requires extensive travel and overnight stay.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a hands-on resource, filling in at communities when a maintenance position is vacant
  • Be an on-call resource for urgent maintenance matters, 24/7
  • Build and monitor effective preventative maintenance programs across communities
  • Train and mentor community maintenance staff
  • Support NSPIRE and regulatory inspections to ensure top-tier building care
  • Oversee the TELS system and review budget/variance reports
  • Monitor supply ordering through approved vendors
  • Maintain up-to-date equipment manuals for each community
  • Stay ahead of new products, methods, and procedures to raise the bar on service
  • Step in with Director of Maintenance-level skills: electrical, HVAC, kitchen equipment, carpentry
  • Consult with the VP of Construction on new building start-ups
  • Oversee fire and disaster drill compliance
  • Champion a strong safety culture at every site

Qualifications:

  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays
  • 5+ years of multi-site management experience, healthcare setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); TELS experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations covering maintenance, utilities, lawn care, and housekeeping
  • Budgeting and fiscal management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A steady hand under pressure and the flexibility to juggle shifting priorities
