Perfect Afternoon seeks a talented, analytical SEO Specialist passionate about search, data, and digital growth. General Job Description

As an SEO Specialist, you will play a key role in improving and managing our clients' search visibility and organic traffic. You will work closely with our development, content, and marketing teams to identify opportunities, resolve technical issues, and implement strategies that improve search rankings and performance.


This position requires experience with SEO auditing tools, keyword research platforms, analytics tools, and technical SEO practices, as well as a solid understanding of how websites are built and optimized for search engines. Familiarity with WordPress, Shopify, structured data, site performance, and search engine algorithms is expected.


SEO Strategy & Execution

Develop and execute SEO strategies that improve organic rankings, traffic, and lead generation for client websites.


Technical SEO

Identify and resolve technical SEO issues, including crawlability, indexing, Core Web Vitals, site structure, redirects, canonicalization, and schema implementation.


Keyword Research & Content Optimization

Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for content growth and optimization. Work with content teams to ensure pages are properly optimized.


SEO Audits

Perform technical site audits using tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMrush, or Ahrefs, identifying actionable improvements and prioritizing fixes.


Analytics & Reporting

Monitor SEO performance using Google Analytics (GA4), Google Search Console, and other reporting tools, providing clear insights and recommendations.


Collaboration

Work closely with developers, designers, and content teams to ensure SEO best practices are implemented during site builds, redesigns, and ongoing updates.


Local & Multi-Location SEO

Support local SEO initiatives, including Google Business Profiles, local landing pages, citation consistency, and review strategy where applicable.


WordPress SEO

Implement and maintain SEO best practices across WordPress websites, including metadata, schema, internal linking, and content optimization.


SEO Tools & Platforms

Utilize industry-standard tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, GA4, and other auditing or reporting tools to analyze performance and identify opportunities.


Trends & Best Practices

Proven experience as an SEO Specialist or similar role, ideally within a digital marketing agency environment.


SEO Tools Proficiency

Experience using tools such as:

Ideal candidates will be local to Detroit, MI, and able to work in-office & hybrid.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of agency experience
  • 2+ years of experience working professionally in SEO or digital marketing
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field
  • Proven experience improving organic search rankings, traffic, and technical site performance
  • Experience working with WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with SEO data and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
