This is more than an operations leadership role. It is an opportunity to drive innovation. Working collaboratively across system operations, market operations, and external stakeholders, you’ll champion continuous improvement, automation, and data driven solutions that modernize outage coordination and strengthen grid reliability. You’ll play a critical role in advancing a forward‑looking operations planning ecosystem rooted in engineering excellence, operational discipline, and strong partnership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing engineering team through accountability, technical excellence, and employee growth
    Oversee the reliable and timely execution of transmission and generation outages in alignment with MISO Tariff, Business Practice Manuals, reliability standards, and operating procedures
    Ensure engineering studies are accurate, well‑documented, technically sound, and completed according to quality assurance and validation processes
    Collaborate with system operations and market operations teams to strengthen coordination, execution consistency, and continuous performance improvement
    Drive enhancements in processes, tools, technology, automation, workflow efficiency, and data visibility to improve quality and customer experience
    Build and maintain strong relationships with Transmission Owners, Generator Operators, vendors, and neighboring RTOs to support effective communication and coordination
    Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
    Represent Operations Planning in internal and external committees, working groups, and project teams
    Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, highly skilled workforce through effective performance management and development planning
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
    Master’s degree in engineering, energy systems, business administration, or related field preferred
    Experience in transmission planning, operations planning, and system operations required
    Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and cross‑functional initiatives
    Strong communication, collaboration, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with the ability to lead in a fast‑paced operational environment

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $162,000-187,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.
