Job description

Oro operates at the intersection of mobility and fleet technology. Today, we power a rental platform that enables drivers to get on the road and earn income through rideshare and delivery services. In the future, we will leverage the same operational expertise and technology foundation to manage fleets at scale, including autonomous vehicles. You'll play a key role in designing the products, processes, and experiences that make both possible.

The starting salary for this role is $135,000, commensurate with experience.

A Day in the Life:

The Director, Mobility Operational Excellence, reports directly to the VP of Operations and serves as the operational excellence leader for the Managed Fleet business. Initially, this role will function as a senior individual contributor responsible for building the management systems, operating standards, and technology partnership framework needed to scale the business. Over time, the role is expected to grow into a people leadership position.

The primary areas of focus include Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), growth planning, process optimization, SOP development and implementation, and partnership with Technology on product enhancements. This role bridges strategy and execution by translating growth objectives into market-level operational plans, improving operational performance, standardizing procedures across locations, and ensuring technology investments address the business's highest-impact challenges.

What You'll Do:

1. Lead S&OP and Growth Planning

  • Build and own the Managed Fleet S&OP process, including planning cadences, inputs, outputs, decision forums, and follow-up actions
  • Translate growth targets into market-level requirements for driver supply, vehicle availability, fleet readiness, utilization, onboarding capacity, training, and operational support
  • Lead growth planning discussions with strategic customers and platform partners, providing updates on capacity, forecasts, and quarterly commitments
  • Monitor plan-to-actual performance and drive corrective actions with Operations, Talent Acquisition, Product, and HR when markets fall short of growth, utilization, or productivity goals

2. Drive Operational Excellence and Process Improvement

  • Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across the driver and fleet lifecycle, including onboarding, training, dispatch, safety, productivity, maintenance, charging, fueling, towing, incident response, and de-fleeting operations
  • Document and scale best practices across markets by developing standardized operating procedures and audit mechanisms to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Partner with local teams to define market-specific operating standards when facility constraints, market dynamics, or regulatory requirements require deviations from standard processes
  • Build business cases for high-impact initiatives and track outcomes tied to productivity, vehicle uptime, revenue-generating hours, cost-to-serve, and overall operational performance
  • Facilitate cross-functional process improvement workshops, map current-state workflows, identify gaps, and lead initiatives that improve execution and scalability

3. Own SOP Development, Governance, and Deployment

  • Establish and manage the end-to-end SOP lifecycle, including intake, drafting, review, approval, training, launch, adoption tracking, auditing, and ongoing maintenance
  • Develop SOP standards that are clear, role-based, version-controlled, compliant, and easy to execute in the field
  • Ensure new SOPs are supported with communication plans, training materials, ownership accountability, change logs, and adoption metrics
  • Maintain a centralized SOP roadmap that closes process gaps, prioritizes operational risk areas, and supports expansion into new markets

4. Partner with Technology to Improve Operational Tools

  • Serve as the primary business owner for operational technology needs, translating field challenges and process requirements into actionable product enhancements
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to prioritize automation, workflow improvements, dashboards, and system enhancements that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Define business requirements, user stories, success metrics, testing plans, rollout strategies, and change management needs for new technology initiatives
  • Provide operational expertise and feedback on tools supporting driver onboarding, workforce management, telematics, fleet readiness, maintenance, charging, fueling, reporting, and market performance management

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in operations, operational excellence, supply chain, transportation, mobility, fleet management, consulting, or a related field
  • Experience building and leading planning processes such as S&OP, integrated business planning, capacity planning, workforce planning, or growth planning
  • Proven success driving process improvement and operational scalability across complex, multi-site, cross-functional organizations
  • Experience developing and implementing SOPs, playbooks, governance frameworks, training programs, and adoption mechanisms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience developing KPIs, dashboards, business cases, and executive-level reporting
  • Ability to translate operational needs into technology requirements and effectively partner with Product, Technology, Analytics, and Operations teams
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels without direct authority

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in managed fleet, rideshare, rental car, logistics, transportation, delivery, field operations, or other asset-intensive environments
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems, telematics, workforce planning tools, BI platforms, workflow automation, and operational technology solutions
  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Analytics, or a related discipline

What You'll Get:

  • Paid Time Off
  • Medical, Dental & Vision plan options
  • Retirement programs, including 401(k) employer matching
  • Paid Parental Leave & Adoption Assistance
  • Employee Assistance Program for employees & family
  • Educational Reimbursement & Discounts
  • Voluntary Insurance Programs - Pet, Legal/Identity Theft, Critical Illness
