Job description

A Dispatcher is required to communicate with drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route. Furthermore, handling incoming service orders, directs drivers, and resolves service issues. Position Overview

Are you a sharp, solutions-oriented professional with a background in transportation? We are looking for an Operations Dispatcher to join our team in Troy, VA. In this critical role, you will serve as the heartbeat of our daily logistics operations-communicating directly with drivers, resolving route challenges in real time, and delivering exceptional service to our customers and internal teams.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Enjoy your weekends!)

  • Pay Rate: Starting at $25.00/hour, competitive and negotiable based on your experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Driver & Route Management: Dispatch calls to routes based on designated routing schedules and driver locations. Serve as the primary line of communication with drivers via email, telephone, and two-way devices to assist with real-time problem resolution.

  • Service Optimization: Schedule services and adapt seamlessly to customer service changes. Work closely with routing specialists to optimize routes for maximum efficiency and productivity.

  • End-of-Day Check-ins: Conduct driver check-ins at the end of the day to collect, review, and ensure complete and accurate completion of paperwork and route sheets.

  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate closely with customer service, sales, the maintenance shop, and operational staff to clarify roles and proactively resolve service issues before they affect the customer.

  • Data Entry & Tracking: Use proprietary industry software (including TRUX) to accurately enter ticket information, record driver documentation, and track daily operational productivity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a transportation, logistics, dispatch, or high-volume customer service role is highly preferred.

  • Technical Savvy: Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Experience with TRUX software is a major asset, but we are willing to train the right candidate who possesses a strong aptitude for learning new systems.

  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.

  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize changing needs, and troubleshoot potential delivery/pickup obstacles proactively.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary courses or diplomas in logistics or transportation are considered an asset.
