Opportunity Summary

Reporting to a Vice President, Plant Operations, the Operations Director will manage a team of Plant Managers to direct/coordinate NAES support during all phases of plant operations, manage/direct Plant Managers on matters relating to NAES performance in all appropriate areas, policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure that all contractual requirements are met and the maximum value is achieved.

Here's a look at some of the work you'll be performing:

  • Manage and give direction to all assigned plant personnel responsible for providing support to assigned projects (O&M, Support, or "Third Party" projects as appropriate)
  • Provide direction and oversight to assigned Plant Managers on action to meet NAES policies, procedures, contractual requirements and standards
  • Manage/oversee coordination with other headquarters departments and NAES subsidiaries to maximize financial returns, achieve optimum project and Division performance in all areas, resolve problems with both internal clients (Plant Managers) AND external clients (Owners/Asset Managers), develop proposals for new projects and support overall Company growth
  • Coordinate with and support Marketing and Business Development representatives to identify growth opportunities and execute an integrated approach to fulfill these opportunities. Support the development of proposals for new projects and growth initiatives.
  • Manage/oversee maintenance of plant programs to both support and meet NAES performance standards. Ensure plant managers have access to the entire suite of NAES Energy Services resources.
  • By continuing assessment and oversight, evaluate plant and project performance in all areas.  Identify and implement appropriate actions and follow-up to ensure that the required standards are met.
  • Provide periodic reports assessing performance of assigned projects and plants including an assessment of operational and financial performance
  • Identify performance shortfalls in any area and recommend or initiate (as appropriate) applicable corrective actions
  • Coordinate with Customers - both internal and external - to ensure satisfaction with the services provided
  • Manage projects and resources to achieve the maximum client (internal/external) satisfaction
  • In coordination with the other NAES subsidiaries, develop "Lessons Learned" "Best Practices" to achieve and maintain the highest level of performance in all areas
  • Using all appropriate resources within NAES Energy Services, manage the continuing NAES assessment and evaluation programs.  Coordinate with and provide information to all appropriate organizations to achieve continuing performance improvements.
  • Based upon the specific situations relevant to the plants and Owners, identify actual and/or potential policy issues; recommend policy revisions as appropriate to NAES Senior Management and, when approved, implement the policies
  • Keeping NAES Senior Management appropriately informed, manage customer relations for all assigned plants. Identify and define all support resource requirements, overseeing and coordinating with all applicable organizations.  Provide senior day-to-day management of associated physical facilities and Owners.
  • In coordination with the Senior Executives, provide management of associated resources and personnel, including Human Resources and Accounting representatives

Compensation and Benefits

  • The initial starting annual compensation will range from $201,600 to $231,800 based on experience and qualifications.

Working Relationships 

The Operations Director will report to a Vice President, Plant Operations.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

This role requires sitting/standing at a desk, using a computer workstation, and the ability to handle long periods of screen time and typing.

Must be available for business hours Monday through Friday. Work is performed on industrial sites when traveling, requiring protective clothing and equipment. Extended hours may be required as a function of meeting customer needs.

Fitness for Duty

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes successful completion of a post-offer drug screen.

Performance

All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time, and to ensure the business needs are being met.  NAES evaluates performance throughout the year.  Performance reviews are completed on an annual basis.

Why you’re the perfect addition to our team (about you):
This position requires fundamental technical knowledge of power plant systems, operations and maintenance. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional levels of organizational, communication, operational and financial management, assessment, and scheduling skills with proven management skills in an equivalent-level management position.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field is preferred  
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in an industrial or power plant environment is necessary to include operations, maintenance, regulatory accountability and plant profit/loss responsibility 
  • At least three years of Senior Management experience in directing the operations of multiple power or industrial plants is preferred
  • Management experience in leading multiple personnel carrying out varied activities and tasks in diverse disciplines required, including management of tasks involving human resources, budgeting, accounting, and marketing/business development.  Must have demonstrable experience with commercial and contract administration responsibilities.
  • Excellent analysis and writing capability required
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at all times
