Ideal Candidate Criteria: We're looking for an Operations Accountant who can move fluidly between a production line conversation and a variance bridge, turning real-time operational data into financial insight that drives decisions. Responsible for being the financial liaison to our manufacturing facility. Owning standard costing, inventory valuation, and production variance analysis while serving as a trusted business partner to the Plant Director and Operations leadership. Assist with cost control and help improve plant performance.

Job Duties:

  • Support monthly physical inventory counts and manages the cycle count program
  • work with the warehouse team to investigate and reconcile count variances back to book balances,
  • identifying root causes and driving corrective actions
  • Prepare journal entries related to inventory, manufacturing costs, operations accruals
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to inventory, production, and operational expenses
  • Support monthly close activities and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare and analyze plant KPIs including yield, waste/scrap, labor efficiency, downtime, throughout, and production costs.
  • Act as a business partner to the Plant Director, monitoring plant operating expenses
  • Work with the Director’s direct reports to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Support budget and forecasting for plant operations, warehousing, and supply chain
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and ensure transactions are in accordance with GAAP
  • Support audit request related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and operational processes
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve processes, controls, and data accuracy
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university, 3-7+ years of experience in an accounting position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills Needed:

  • required 3–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in food and beverage manufacturing or consumer packaged goods
  • Experience with cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations strongly preferred
  • ERP experience in a manufacturing environment (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, NetSuite, etc.) required
  • Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar preferred
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing variance, accrual accounting, internal controls, and GAAP
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, xlookups, financial modeling)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate financial information into operational insights.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop. The employee must occasionally push, pull; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a wet environment. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate when going from office to plant floor.
