Job description

Primary Responsibilities/Requirements:
  • Assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of Office Manager
  • Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
  • Perform general nursing duties
  • Perform suture/staple removal
  • Perform wound care/dressing changes
  • Drawing up meds; calling in medications
  • Application of sterile fields
  • Application and removal of casts and splints
  • Locate any necessary imaging, test results or reports for upcoming appointments
  • Schedule and pre-cert. MRI'S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
  • Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc.
  • Prepare for clinic by printing out patient information as requested by physician
  • Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
  • Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms
  • Assist in Call Center/Registration, scheduling appointments, registering patients in system, verifying insurance and collecting copays/deductibles
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires
  • Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and chart patient messages and communicating test results to patients with direction from physician

Must also possess:
  • HS/GED required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, DOC physicians and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
  • Independent, self-starting and highly motivated
  • Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
  • Proven positive, "teamwork" attitude and work history
  • Minimum one-year full time clinical experience in healthcare preferred

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers skillfully
  • Frequent moving, pushing, pulling of heavy patients and/or equipment
  • Constant standing and walking
  • Must be agile and able to work efficiently in space limited areas
  • Consistently work at a productive pace
  • Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
