What is off road racing?

An Off Road Racing job involves driving or supporting high-performance vehicles in rugged, unpaved terrains for competitive events. Roles can include drivers, mechanics, engineers, navigators, and event coordinators. Professionals in this field work on vehicle preparation, race strategy, and troubleshooting mechanical issues during races. Jobs can be found in professional racing teams, aftermarket parts companies, and motorsports organizations. Experience in mechanics, engineering, or competitive driving is often required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in off road racing?

To thrive in Off Road Racing, you need advanced driving skills, deep mechanical knowledge of off-road vehicles, and physical endurance, often gained through specialized driver training and experience. Familiarity with navigation tools such as GPS systems, race radios, and vehicle telemetry is typically required, and certifications in vehicle safety or first aid are advantageous. Strong decision-making abilities, situational awareness, teamwork, and resilience under pressure set standout racers apart. These competencies are essential for performing safely and competitively in challenging terrain and high-intensity racing conditions.

What are some common challenges faced by off road racers on the job?

Off road racers often face unpredictable terrain, rapidly changing weather, and demanding physical conditions during races, which require constant focus and quick adaptation. Navigating rough landscapes can lead to mechanical issues, making problem-solving skills and vehicle knowledge highly valuable. Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.
Racing is where our story began.
In 1901, Henry Ford climbed into a car he built himself-"Sweepstakes"-and beat America's most famous driver. He wasn't a racer, but he had to win. He did. Ford Motor Company was born from that victory.
That fighting spirit lives on in Ford Racing today. We're the engineers, strategists, and competitors who bring Ford's track-tested edge into every vehicle we build. Every track, every stage, every proving ground-that's where we prove ourselves.
The result: one of the world's most iconic brands, legendary nameplates, and a team unmatched in the industry.
Our mantra: Race to win, engineer to lead.
If you're a competitor, innovator, or performance obsessive, Ford Racing is where you belong. Help us write the next chapter.
In this position...
  • We seek an experienced leader that is well-versed in motorsport marketing with the ability to activate at off-road races and shape production car development.
  • You will lead all Ford Racing marketing off-road racing and product initiatives ensuring our racing DNA flows through all activations, production car strategies & communications.
  • Strong planning, organizational and leadership skills will be required in managing a team of 4 reports and multiple agency relationships to ensure success of the Raptor product line and marketing initiatives across all off-road racing including Dakar, Baja 1000, King of the Hammers, WRC and others.

Responsibilities
What you'll do...
  • Oversee all off-road racing marketing initiatives and Raptor products - intimately involved in cycle planning & internal engineering/competition relationships
  • Prioritize amplification of specific race series and races for creating maximum value in shaping Ford Racing as an enthusiast brand (Own Off-Road) and winning enthusiast customers
  • Lead development of the Raptor brand (positioning, product content & on-vehicle brand expression), coordinating with Brand Manager, under the Ford Racing banner
  • Lead all off-road race operations and series/partner/driver relationships including hospitality & fan engagement
  • Prioritize most important annual off-road topics & work streams for driving product and brand passion
  • Coordinate with Brand Manager on all branding topics including livery, licensing and merchandise topics
  • Leader of all off-road race operations and series/partner/driver relationships
  • Plan, manage and forecast budget utilization across all on-road race series/activations

Qualifications
You'll have...

  • At least 10 years experience in a Marketing or automotive Product role with at least 5 years of direct off-road marketing experience
  • At least 5 years experience in a manager role overseeing direct reports and external communications agency partners
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to distill complex topics into focused, powerful recommendations/presentations

  • Team-oriented mentality that seeks to build strong, collaborative and lasting relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Flexibility for frequent travel to key races/activations
  • Understanding and experience with unique, rugged environments in which off-road racing takes place and ability to personally navigate the physical & logistical aspects of this

Even better, you may have...
