Haul Truck Driver - Aggregate
Job Summary:
The Haul Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy-duty off-road dump trucks to transport materials within mining, quarry, or heavy construction sites regulated by MSHA. This position requires strict adherence to federal and company safety standards, including those mandated by the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). The driver will perform routine inspections, maintain equipment in compliance with MSHA Part 46 requirements, and support overall site productivity and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operates off-road dump trucks to transport soil, rock, aggregate, or other materials across MSHA-regulated sites.
  • Adheres to all MSHA and company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific training requirements.
  • Conducts pre-shift, pre-trip, and post-trip inspections in compliance with MSHA standards; immediately reports mechanical or safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintains accurate equipment logs, inspection reports, and load counts as required by MSHA documentation protocols.
  • Wears and maintains all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
  • Communicates effectively with dispatchers, equipment operators, and supervisors to ensure safe material movement.
  • Operates trucks safely on uneven terrain, inclines, and in variable weather conditions.
  • Participates in MSHA safety meetings, site briefings, and refresher training as required by law.
  • Immediately reports all hazards, near-misses, or incidents following MSHA reporting procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining clean work areas and ensuring compliance with environmental and housekeeping standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in operating off-road dump trucks and other heavy mobile equipment.
  • Strong understanding of MSHA Part 46/48 safety regulations and site-specific hazard controls.
  • Ability to identify unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action.
  • Excellent communication and situational awareness in high-risk work environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with zero-tolerance for unsafe behaviors.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 Certification required (will provide training if needed)
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience operating off-road dump trucks in mining, quarry, or heavy civil construction environments preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, climbing, and operating heavy machinery controls.
  • Must be able to enter and exit large equipment safely.
  • Visual and hearing ability to detect hazards, signals, and alarms.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, dusty conditions, and noisy environments.
