Job description

Request for Proposal (RFP): Philanthropy Marketing Consultancy

Location: United States

Expected Start: July 2026

Application Deadline: June 19, 2026

About PSI:

Population Services International (PSI) is a leading global health nonprofit committed to making it easier for all people to live healthy lives and plan the families they desire. With 55 years of experience, PSI works in 30 low- and middle-income countries to strengthen health systems and expand access to essential services, with a special focus on reproductive health and the unique needs of women and girls. PSI is a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit in the United States.

Background/Scope of Work:

PSI receives valuable unrestricted and loosely restricted contributions from individual donors at all levels (low, mid, major, planned and high-net-wealth contributions), which power our global programs alongside grants from institutions and foundations. Flexible individual donations are increasingly important to PSI's long-term financial resilience and sustainability.

A notable number of PSI's current individual donors are US-based healthcare providers. PSI has recently completed a consultancy that delivered evidence-based messaging and marketing recommendations to engage healthcare providers via marketing and outreach as prospective donors to the organization.

PSI's Philanthropy Team currently seeks a consulting firm available to start work by July 2026 at the latest to execute a marketing campaign to grow the base of individual donors and unrestricted revenue to PSI in Q4 2026. The audience targeted as prospective donors may include healthcare professionals, general public, or both.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refinement of marketing plan for 2026, including:
    • Key messaging, target audiences, collateral to be developed, marketing channels, and advertising budget breakdown.
    • KPIs to track progress and ROI.
  • Execution of marketing plan, including:
    • Collateral development.
    • Execution of all marketing/advertising activities.
    • Guidance for PSI's end-of-year email campaign messaging and design. (EOY campaign to be executed in-house at PSI)
  • Measurement of success in 2026 and preliminary recommendations for 2027.
    • Measurement of progress against KPIs.
    • Analysis and recommendations for adjustment and improvement in 2027.

Consultant Profile:

  • Demonstrated experience in development and execution of successful digital acquisition campaigns, ideally for a range of nonprofit clients with proven success increasing individual donor revenue
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design, video creation, collateral development, digital advertising strategies, PR/media placements, and other marketing strategies
  • Ability to analyze data, make data-driven decisions, and deliver results on time and within scope
  • Track record of delivering measurable value to nonprofit clients' fundraising strategies
  • Creative and people-oriented with the ability to brainstorm and generate new and unique ideas as solutions to issues
  • Strong grasp of current trends in individual giving to U.S. nonprofits

How to Apply:

  • Interested candidates are invited to submit a brief proposal to Nina Weaver at nweaver@psi.org by June 19, 2026.
  • The proposal should be no more than 5 pages and include:
  • A proposed execution plan.
  • Budget.
  • Preliminary KPI targets and anticipated ROI (e.g., return on attributable revenue, number of new monthly donors, cost per donor acquisition) based on realistic benchmarks.
  • 2-3 Relevant case studies of previously executed marketing projects with before-and-after metrics and demonstrable results. Applicants should describe their proposed measurement and attribution methodology.
  • Proposals will be evaluated on a rolling basis.

Budget:

  • The available budget for the entire marketing campaign is $120,000, which must include both the agency fees and advertising expenditures. Proposals should include the recommended breakdown of agency fees vs. advertising budget.
  • No travel is expected as part of this consultancy.
