Job description

Position Title: Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician
Location: Silver Spring, MD (100% Onsite)
Shift: Wednesday - Saturday | 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Early Sunday Morning)
Position Status: Contract
Position Description:
Seneca Resources is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician to provide overnight operational support for a critical enterprise IT environment. This role is ideal for early-career network professionals who thrive in a fast-paced operations center and are passionate about maintaining network availability, resolving incidents, and supporting mission-critical infrastructure. As a member of the Network Operations Center, you will be responsible for monitoring enterprise network infrastructure, responding to system alerts, troubleshooting connectivity issues, documenting incidents, and escalating complex problems to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of network services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise networking technologies while working with industry-leading monitoring and IT service management tools.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor enterprise network infrastructure and systems in a 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment.
  • Respond to network alerts, alarms, and service interruptions to ensure maximum system availability.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of network connectivity, hardware, and infrastructure issues.
  • Monitor network performance using SolarWinds and other enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Create, update, and manage incident tickets using ServiceNow or a comparable IT Service Management (ITSM) platform.
  • Escalate critical incidents to engineering teams following established operational procedures.
  • Document troubleshooting activities, incident resolutions, and operational updates with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support continuous monitoring of network health, performance, and availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to resolve operational issues efficiently.
  • Follow operational standards, security procedures, and best practices while maintaining accurate system documentation.

Required Skills/Education:
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Network Support, or IT Operations environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Cisco networking technologies, including switches, routers, and enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experience using SolarWinds or similar network monitoring and performance management tools.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or another IT ticketing/ITSM platform.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPNs, and network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of network monitoring, incident response, and operational support processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple incidents and work effectively in a fast-paced, 24x7 operations environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco CCNA certification.
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or other relevant industry certifications.
  • Knowledge of network security principles, enterprise infrastructure, and IT operations best practices.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or government IT environments.
