Job description

Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician I / II / III in Ridgeland MS

About the Role

Join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our telecommunications network. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues across legacy and IP-based infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Level I

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues involving telecommunications platforms, including Lucent & Nortel CDMA switches, Alcatel-Lucent, Fujitsu, Calix, OCCAM, BTI, Cisco, and other network equipment.
  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot OCn, Gigabit Ethernet, DS3, T1, and DWDM transport facilities across legacy and IP networks.
  • Coordinate incident resolution with vendors, infrastructure teams, field technicians, engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Resolve escalated customer and network issues received from Customer Care, Roaming, Engineering, Field Services, and other operational teams.
  • Accurately document incidents, troubleshooting activities, and resolutions.
  • Support company values through integrity, accountability, customer focus, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Level II

In addition to all Level I responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to Tier I technicians during network troubleshooting.
  • Investigate network outages and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Prepare outage summaries and operational reports for NOC leadership.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for process and operational improvements.

Level III

In addition to all Level II responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex customer-impacting and internal network issues.
  • Make critical operational decisions regarding emergency maintenance activities and after-hours field dispatches.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting efforts during major incidents and network outages.
  • Mentor junior technicians and provide technical leadership within the NOC.

Qualifications

Level I

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Networking, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or telecommunications environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of wireless technologies such as CDMA and LTE is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.

Level II

In addition to the Level I qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Network Operations Center or similar telecommunications operations role.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot network issues and perform Level II responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical network infrastructure.

Level III

In addition to the Level II qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Network Operations Center or comparable network operations environment.
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to lead incident response efforts and coordinate cross-functional teams during critical network events.
