Position Summary:Southern Boone High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Instrumental Music Assistant to support a growing and dynamic instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teaching ability, a passion for student development, and a commitment to excellence in both performance and classroom instruction. Primary Responsibilities:Assist the Director of Bands in planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the band programCo-teach and/or independently direct concert bands, marching band, and other ensembles as assignedSupport marching band operations, including rehearsals, performances, drill instruction, and event logisticsProvide sectional and small group instruction to enhance individual and ensemble performanceAssist with curriculum development, music selection, and student assessment aligned with Missouri Learning StandardsHelp coordinate concerts, competitions, festivals, and travelSupport recruitment and retention efforts through collaboration with feeder middle school programsWork collaboratively with faculty, administration, and band booster organizationsAssist with inventory management, uniforms, equipment, and music library organizationMaintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environmentPerform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Bands or school administrationQualifications:Experience teaching or assisting with concert and marching band programsEffective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleaguesSpecifics:This is a part-time, stipend-based position.Compensation will be commensurate with experience and provided in accordance with the district's stipend schedule
