Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home and a top-notch education. Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive. The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students for future generations.
The MHS Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) program impacts students as they can learn a variety of instruments and easily can explore areas of interest or passion right here on campus. MHS is currently seeking a Middle School Musical Assistant Director. The responsibility of this position is to assist the director in coordinating efforts to produce the Middle School Spring Musical. The Middle School Musical Assistant Director works closely with the Visual and Performing Arts Director and the team to deliver a production of the highest quality, focusing on the development of student's social and emotional competencies. The hours are approximately 10 hours per week (two to three after school/evening rehearsals) from late September through January. This is an onsite, seasonal ancillary stipend position. Stipend amount based on experience: $2,656 - $3,453/season.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent, bachelor's degree in theatre is a plus.
  • Minimum 2-year experience performing in middle/high school or college groups.
  • Minimum 2-year experience instructing theatre including musicals.
  • Demonstrated success in developing students' performance skills.
  • Experience leading rehearsals and providing constructive & encouraging feedback.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, reliable, and positive in outlook, inspiring others to exemplify those same traits.
  • Ability to provide a holistic approach to support MHS Sacred Values and reinforce the development of students' social and emotional competencies, required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
  • Candidates must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
