Job description

Privacy Consultant 

Performance Outcome: Provide full-time Privacy Office Support, Privacy and Compliance Support, Privacy Complaint Resolution and Amendment Support, Privacy Incident Management Services, and Privacy Strategic Planning and Programmatic Support to work closely with the Senior Consultant - Task Lead, OIGP leadership, and staff to ensure agency information is protected as required by federal law and policy throughout its lifecycle. Coordinate with the Senior Consultant – Task Lead to ensure open, timely, and complete communication with the Government CO, COR, and GPM.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience required.
  • At least five (5) years of applied privacy policy and theory in the federal government sector, including experience in the identification of privacy enhancing operations and technologies; implementing privacy policies and compliance frameworks; and experience managing, producing, and executing privacy impact assessments (PIAs), system of record notices (SORNs), and privacy threshold analyses (PTAs), and other analysis documents to promote privacy protections within new and existing information systems and programs.
  • Experience must include independently drafting long-form, narrative privacy compliance and transparency documents that fully assess and explain privacy risks and mitigation of those risks (e.g., PIAs, SORNs).
  • Experience must include independently liaising with program/business, information technology, and information security personnel to identify privacy risks at all stages of system and program development, and collaboratively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Experience employing a wide range of methods for the assessment and improvement of complex programs, processes, and systems; operational knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, tracking and document management programs to write, analyze, and edit documentation that specifically relates to privacy issues.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain client security credentials.

Other Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Proficiency and strength in verbal, written, computer, presentation, and communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Senior level professional able to work independently to accomplish complex assignments associated with leading projects and/or leading large, complex projects.
  • At least eight (8) years of applied privacy policy and theory in the federal government sector, including experience in the identification of privacy enhancing operations and technologies; implementing privacy policies and compliance frameworks; and understanding of the form and function of privacy impact assessments (PIAs), system of record notices (SORNs), and privacy threshold analyses (PTAs), and other analysis documents to promote privacy protections within new and existing information systems and programs.
  • Knowledgeable in the mission of respective areas and considered a Subject Matter Expert in the ICE overall mission.
  • Private Sector Privacy experience.
  • Work experience in a fast-paced law enforcement or DoD operational environment with constantly evolving priorities to meet mission objectives.
  • Current certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
  • Current Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) or greater certification.
