Metals USA is seeking a Outside Sales Representative for our Wooster, OH location. Sales territory is Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh to Western Harrisburg. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of carbon steel products and services. Job Summary:
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing and maintaining a loyal customer base by identifying customer needs, building strong relationships, and supporting Metals USA's commitment to delivering exceptional value and service. This role focuses on both managing existing customer accounts and generating new business opportunities within an assigned territory. The Outside Sales Representative must possess a strong understanding of sales processes, customer relationship management, prospecting strategies, and the flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum markets. Success in this position requires a proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to effectively communicate the value of Metals USA's products and services. Working closely with Operations, Purchasing, and the Inside Sales team, the Outside Sales Representative ensures customer expectations are met through responsive service, accurate order fulfillment, and reliable supply chain solutions. The role is accountable for driving revenue growth, strengthening customer partnerships, and contributing to the overall success of the organization through operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
  • Generate new business through prospecting, networking, referrals, and cold calling to drive revenue growth.
  • Manage assigned territory through strategic sales planning, regular customer visits, and consistent prospect engagement.
  • Maintain and advance a healthy sales pipeline by tracking opportunities and executing growth strategies.
  • Prepare and present pricing proposals and value-added solutions to secure new business and expand existing accounts.
  • Manage and grow assigned customer accounts by promoting Metals USA's products, services, and capabilities.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through regular interaction, customer entertainment, understanding customer needs, and delivering exceptional service and support.
  • Communicate Metals USA's value proposition through supply chain solutions, inventory management programs, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Resolve customer concerns by coordinating internal resources and delivering timely solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Inside Sales teams to ensure quality, service, and on-time delivery expectations are met.
  • Act as a market and product resource for customers by monitoring industry trends, competitive activity, and flat-rolled product developments to deliver value-added solutions

Required and Preferred Qaulifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Five (5) or more years of success in flat-rolled metals' sales preferred.
  • Experience selling value-added metal products, processing capabilities, and supply chain solutions to industrial and manufacturing customers.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with executive-level decision makers across diverse industries.
  • Strong business acumen with the skill to identify customer needs and develop solutions that create value and drive growth.
  • Proficient aptitude in Microsoft Office applications and CRM/sales management systems.
  • Solid knowledge of flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum products and their applications.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, negotiation, and time-management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory. Travel up to 75%.
