Job description

A well-established company in the PEMB industry is searching for a Metal Building Designer. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical side of PEMB design and wants to work in a steady, team-oriented environment. This is a good fit for someone who can work independently, manage their own workflow, and make sound engineering decisions while still collaborating closely with detailing, project management, and internal operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Design pre-engineered metal building systems using MBS software
  • Prepare engineering summaries and calculations for detailing teams
  • Review drawings and coordinate revisions with internal departments
  • Support permit revisions, special engineering requests, and project changes
  • Assist with engineering-related cost input when needed
  • Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously
  • Work closely with detailing and production teams to ensure accurate execution
  • Make practical engineering decisions with minimal oversight
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in PEMB design or structural building systems
  • Strong understanding of metal building design principles and project coordination
  • Familiarity with MBS or similar proprietary PEMB software
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized in a flexible environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on MBS experience
  • AutoCAD exposure
  • PE licensure or progress toward licensure
  • Experience supporting estimating, sales, or manufacturing teams within PEMB
