Job Description
Title: Sr. Merchandising Analyst
Duties: AutoZone's Senior Merchandising Analysts are internal consultants for the merchandising department. They solve problems through data analysis and reporting; consult with production managers to provide a statistical and financial foundation for merchandising decisions; and analyze proposed promotions and tests to determine feasibility and profitability. Senior Merchandising Analysts use the programming language SAS to retrieve information and automate reporting; perform analysis of SMS tables, flexogram tables, warranty databases, store/item/retail tables, shipment tables, and warehouse/item/store tables; and measure progress vs. operating plan. In this position, you will own category strategy as it relates to planograms and stores space on the sales floor; develop and improve analytic and technical tools utilized by our team and others, including those available through our team website; and work with Visual Merchandisers and Category Managers to ensure category milestones are being met and maintain planogram integrity. You will also develop recommendations for category initiatives, including tests, product mix, clustering and assortment changes based on business requirements from Merchandising, Store Operations, Supply Chain, IT, Legal and Finance as it relates to store space, assortment, and planograms.
Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Business Analytics, Information Technology, or related and 5 years of predictive business analytics experience, including:
  • Query optimization, creation and management of tables, subqueries, and complex aggregations using SQL, SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle
  • Statistical models including forecasting, customer segmentation, cluster analysis, random forest, regression
  • Must also have at least 1 year of
    • R, Tableau, Python (Jupiter notebooks), and Pandas, numpy, scikit learn, natural language toolkit (NLTK)
    • Time-series forecasting and A/B testing in VWO
