Job description

Our client is seeking a highly organized, commercially minded Senior Manager of Site Merchandising to lead the day-to-day merchandising and performance of an elite brands digital storefront. This role will translate seasonal, product, marketing, and promotional strategies into accurate, compelling, and conversion-focused onsite experiences. This position will own daily merchandising decisions, prioritization, cross-functional coordination, and final quality assurance, while partnering with Site Operations and support teams on product setup, promotion configuration, and production execution. This is an in-office work cadence (not remote or hybrid) and must be based in the Boston area. Our client will consider some relocation assistance for the right candidate.
  • The salary range for this role is $160,000-175,000 plus bonus.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day site merchandising experience across the homepage, landing pages, product listing pages, product detail pages, search, navigation, and product recommendations.
  • Translate seasonal, product, marketing, and promotional priorities into clear onsite merchandising plans and execution briefs.
  • Partner with Site Operations and support teams to ensure new products, colorways, promotions, markdowns, and site updates launch accurately and on schedule.
  • Provide final merchandising review and approval for product launches, including categorization, product attributes, imagery, descriptions, color naming, recommendations, and product ranking.
  • Create and maintain the category and subcategory strategy, ensuring products are appropriately categorized and ranked based on commercial priorities, inventory, customer behavior, and performance.
  • Own onsite product-ranking decisions and adjust featured products, imagery, recommendations, and category placement based on availability and business performance.
  • Lead the strategy and ongoing optimization of You May Also Like, upsell, cross-sell, and other product-recommendation experiences.
  • Manage onsite search merchandising, including search tuning, synonyms, ranking rules, redirects, and zero-result experiences.
  • Partner with Creative to select studio photography, approve color-up imagery, and identify product and lifestyle-photography needs.
  • Review and approve the onsite execution of markdowns, sale assortments, promotional experiences, and changes to full-price shopping paths.
  • Partner with CRM and Marketing to quality-check email links, landing pages, product availability, and merchandising before campaigns launch.
  • Monitor site and product performance and translate revenue, conversion, inventory, search, and customer-behavior insights into daily merchandising actions.
  • Execute personalization and experimentation initiatives in partnership with the Senior Director, Analytics, Product, and Marketing teams.
  • Conduct regular site reviews across desktop and mobile, identifying experience issues and coordinating resolution with Site Operations, Product, Engineering, and Creative.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning for product-line needs, markdowns, promotions, homepage content, email calendars, site enhancements, and photography.
  • Establish merchandising standards, briefs, quality-assurance processes, and workback plans that enable support teams to execute consistently and efficiently.
  • Manage day-to-day workflows with PLP, search, recommendation, and personalization technology partners, escalating roadmap and strategic needs to the Senior Director.
  • Develop and coach Site Merchandising team members down the road while maintaining clear priorities, accountability, and high execution standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years of experience in Ecommerce, site merchandising, digital merchandising, or a related DTC retail function.
  • Demonstrated experience owning day-to-day site merchandising for a high-volume ecommerce business.
  • Advanced experience with Shopify Plus and strong working knowledge of product catalogs, collections, taxonomy, merchandising applications, content workflows, and platform integrations.
  • Experience using PLP and onsite-search platforms such as Nosto, Search Spring, Constructor, Bloomreach, Algolia, or comparable solutions.
  • Experience with recommendation and personalization platforms such as Monetate, Visually, Adobe Target, or similar.
  • Familiarity with A/B and multivariate testing or comparable tools.
  • Strong understanding of product taxonomy, attributes, filtering, faceting, product ranking, search tuning, redirects, recommendations, and onsite navigation.
  • Experience directing product launches, markdowns, promotional experiences, sale assortments, and inventory-sensitive merchandising in partnership with operational support teams.
  • Strong visual judgment and experience partnering with Creative teams on studio photography, product-image selection, color accuracy, lifestyle imagery, and digital presentation.
  • Proficiency with ecommerce analytics and digital-experience platforms such as GA4, Tableau, Looker or comparable tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate customer, inventory, and product-performance data into timely merchandising actions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple launches, campaigns, and priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong project-management, quality-assurance, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
