Job description

We are seeking a data-driven, luxury retail merchandising professional for a Temporary Merchandising Manager (Handbags & Accessories). This role will drive assortment planning, inventory optimization, sales performance, and in-season trading across the market.
  • This is a 6 month contract based in NYC requiring 3 day a week onsite.
  • Hourly pay rate is up to $45.00 based on experienc.
  • You will leverage retail analytics, product strategy, and client insights to enhance business performance while partnering closely with stores, retail operations, and global headquarters.

Responsibilities:
Merchandising Strategy & Planning (Retail Merchandising, Assortment Planning, Inventory Management)
  • Partner with HQ to develop seasonal assortment strategies, buying plans, and product allocation
  • Execute base orders, replenishment, and stock optimization across boutiques
  • Support open-to-buy planning and sales forecasting with Operations Control

Sales Analysis & Market Insights (Retail Analytics, Sales Performance, Trend Analysis)
  • Analyze sales KPIs, sell-through, inventory turnover, and client demand trends
  • Monitor competitor benchmarking, luxury market trends, and customer segmentation
  • Deliver actionable insights to drive revenue growth and margin optimization

Retail & Store Partnership (Retail Operations, Store Performance, Client Experience)
  • Maintain strong in-store presence to evaluate product performance and visual merchandising impact
  • Support clienteling initiatives, in-store events, and VIP selling ceremonies
  • Act as a brand ambassador, reinforcing luxury service standards and brand positioning

Training & Product Expertise (Product Knowledge, Retail Training, Sales Enablement)
  • Lead seasonal product training sessions and ongoing sales enablement programs
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations, product storytelling tools, and training materials
  • Support onboarding of new hires through retail learning & development initiatives

Events & Client Activation (Retail Events, Client Engagement, Sales Activation)
  • Partner cross-functionally to execute retail events, trunk shows, and client activations
  • Track event performance metrics, client sales, and post-event follow-ups
  • Manage inventory flow and demand planning pre/post events

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or retail planning
  • Experience in luxury fashion, handbags, accessories, or premium retail brands preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis), PowerPoint, and reporting tools
  • Proven ability to interpret retail data, sales trends, and merchandising KPIs
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in training, presenting, and stakeholder management
  • Highly organized with strong time management, multitasking, and strategic thinking skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
