Pay: $60,000-$65,000/yr

Position Summary

The Memory Care Director champions Charter Senior Living’s Flourish Memory Care philosophy and is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, resident engagement, compliance, and programming within the Memory Care neighborhood.

This leadership role oversees the implementation and success of Flourish Memory Care standards while supporting therapeutic programming, dementia-informed care approaches, resident quality of life, associate development, and operational excellence.

The Memory Care Director works collaboratively with community leadership to ensure residents receive compassionate, person-centered support in a safe, engaging, and purposeful environment.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, experienced in dementia care, and passionate about leading teams while enhancing the lives of seniors and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily operations within the Memory Care neighborhood

  • Champion and implement Charter Senior Living’s Flourish Memory Care philosophy

  • Oversee therapeutic, recreational, educational, and engagement programming

  • Ensure compliance with memory care standards, policies, procedures, and state regulations

  • Support resident-centered dementia care approaches and quality of life initiatives

  • Train, mentor, and support Memory Care associates and programming staff

  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership teams

  • Support family communication, education, and engagement initiatives

  • Help achieve occupancy and resident satisfaction goals

  • Address behavioral and emotional support needs using dementia-informed approaches

  • Oversee implementation of Flourish program distinctions including:

    • Flourish Restore

    • Flourish Enrich

    • Flourish Connect

    • Flourish Create

    • Flourish Engage

    • Flourish Contribute

  • Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, associates, and community partners

QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Associate degree required or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in:

    • Recreation Therapy

    • Social Work

    • Human Development

    • Psychology

    • Gerontology

    • Related field

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with seniors

  • Minimum 1 year working specifically with individuals living with dementia

  • Experience leading memory care or dementia programming strongly preferred

Certifications Preferred
  • Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP)

  • Activities Director Certification

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

  • Other dementia care or therapeutic recreation certifications

Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership and team development skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Experience managing dementia-related behaviors and family support needs

  • Strong planning, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead change and maintain program consistency

  • Compassionate, adaptable, professional, and resident-focused approach

  • Memory Care Resident Care Associates

  • Memory Care Coordinators

  • Programming Assistants

  • Additional Memory Care team members in partnership with the Health & Wellness Director
