Description

Family Care of South Windsor is seeking experienced Front and Back Medical Assistant. 40 hours per week Mon-Fri 8:45-5:15pm. Must be willing to travel to office location in Enfield, CT.


Must be team player and have the ability to handle administrative and clinical duties may include but are not limited to answering phones, making appointments, triaging calls, patient screening and brief assessment of problems, medication review, obtaining full vital signs, Urinalysis, EKG, A1C, scanning and obtaining prior authorizations.


Essential functions and basic duties. (This list may not include all of the essential functions and duties assigned.)

Verify patient information, records medical history, confirming purpose of visit.

Performs check in and check out.

Collections of co-payments and balances. Reconciles monies daily.

Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary tests, taking height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, O2 and, when necessary, HgbA1c, glucose,  EKG and urinalysis for acute diagnostic testing or drug screening.

Keeps supplies ready by inventory stock. Request supplies as needed and verify receipts.

Schedule appointments, internal and external, as well as obtaining prior authorizations, pre-certifications and/or internal and insurance referrals when appropriate including medications.

Medical Records: complete release of information requests in a timely manner following billing protocol when applicable.

Answer telephone phone calls and route detailed messages to the physician when applicable. Follow through to resolution.

Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms, reception area and personal space.

Triage calls under physician's guidance.

Interacts with vendors, staff, physicians, and visitors in ways that demonstrate caring and reflects professional behavior.

Performs some general office duties such as, but not limited to, completing insurance forms and scanning documents into EMR system if necessary.

Acts as a chaperone if patient or physician requests.

Performs related work assignments and special projects as assigned in the allotted time frame and reports any delays.

Attends and participates in office meetings as scheduled.

Stays informed of all changes in the healthcare industry and shares these changes with supervisor and other office personnel.

Follows COVID policies.

Complies with all HIPAA policies and procedures ensuring confidentiality and patient privacy.

Complies with OSHA rules and regulations.

Complies to all company policies and office procedures.
