Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Director, Paid Media Strategy to lead the development and execution of innovative media strategies across full funnel channels. This role is a central driver of North America growth, owning how media investment translates into both brand equity and revenue at scale.  

The ideal candidate will combine a passion for beauty with strong media knowledge, analytical rigor, and creative innovation to help optimize channel mix and elevate our brand presence. They should have a strong working knowledge of both brand and performance channels as well as measurement solutions like MMM, MTA, and incrementality testing.

Key Responsibilities

Brand and Retail Media Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and lead upper- and mid-funnel media strategies, ensuring investments build long-term brand equity while fueling acquisition and performance goals.
  • Manage substantial multi-million-dollar media budgets across CTV, OOH, social, and audio/podcasts.
  • Establish a clear media investment framework that aligns awareness and consideration KPIs with topline growth objectives.
  • Partner with retail and consumer engagement teams to build holistic media systems across paid, owned, and earned channels.

Performance Media Strategy & Leadership

  • Partner closely with the DTC team to build robust performance media plans that deliver efficient new customer and revenue growth.
  • Shape creative strategy through media insights, ensuring storytelling is optimized for platform behavior and performance signals
  • Drive a test-and-learn agenda that connects creative, audience, and channel
  • Transform reporting from channel-level outputs to decision-driving insights that shape investment and creative strategy

Data-Driven Insights & Measurement

  • Own the total measurement framework of MMM, MTA, and incrementality studies-leveraging insights to inform marketing investment and media mix decisions.
  • Leverage sales data to evaluate impact of Brand and Retail media and uncover whitespace for growth.
  • Use research and measurement to continuously refine targeting, frequency, and channel allocation.
  • Ensure awareness, consideration, and brand favorability KPIs are systematically monitored and linked to business outcomes.
  • Establish feedback loops and performance recaps, ensuring insights from brand and performance media are shared x-functionally with relevant teams to influence future strategy, messaging, and investment decisions.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of Media Managers, building expertise in both brand and performance media.
  • Create an environment of innovation, rigor, and test-and-learn culture.
  • Elevate team capabilities to operate at the intersection of creative storytelling, analytical rigor, and media innovation.
  • Uplevel the organization's ability to make strong paid assets by sharing best creative best practices and learnings.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in media strategy, brand marketing, or growth marketing, with a proven track record of managing $8M+ in media
  • Proven ability to set media strategy tied to business outcomes
  • Experience in Beauty or Luxury strongly preferred
  • Experience influencing executive-level investment decisions
  • Track record of scaling brands through integrated media strategy
  • Deep expertise in performance marketing media planning 
  • Strong understanding of MMM, MTA, and incrementality testing
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and willing to work from our San Francisco HQ a minimum of two days per week

The Details

The expected base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $175,000. The exact base pay is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan based on personal performance and company results.
