Job Summary:
Our Digital Content Assistant promotes interactive playful learning experiences through digital and social media channels by sharing stories that bring our mission to life. This position supports day-to-day marketing efforts to engage audiences, highlight programs and exhibits, and extend our reach in the community. This role plays a key part in capturing and creating digital content that reflects the creativity, enjoyment, and impact of the Museum's learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create, schedule, and edit social media content that reflects the Museum's mission and interactive learning through play.
  • Draft and edit copy for marketing and communication materials, including email marketing messages, social media captions, blog posts, and website updates.
  • Capture moments through photo and video content to support digital storytelling and promotional efforts.
  • Support social media content design using basic design tools (such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Collaborate with staff from all departments to identify and source content for storytelling.
  • Proactively engage with guests and explore the Museum in order to find and share stories that positively reflect our mission and impact.
  • Brainstorm unique content ideas to increase online visibility and engagement through digital channels.
  • Help maintain digital content calendars and ensure timely promotion of upcoming events, programs, and highlights.
  • Support special events, outreach efforts, and media opportunities, including behind-the-scenes prep and day-of coordination.
  • Maintain organized photo and media libraries.
  • Help with various marketing and communications projects and tasks as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Shows a passion for and commitment to our mission, vision, and values.
  • Previous professional experience in social media, digital content creation, marketing, or communication is preferred.
  • Prior professional experience with digital and social media platforms and management tools and basic design programs (such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent creative design skills and understanding of design basics.
  • Team player with ability to collaborate and cooperate.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Strong creativity and innovation.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

What We Offer:
  • Starting salary range of at least $15.00 per hour and will be evaluated commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Work Environment:
  • This role must be completed onsite and some flexible scheduling options may be available.
  • Scheduled shifts may at times include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
