A role on Target's Media team is an opportunity to elevate Target Marketing by leveraging media trends, data, and technology to drive meaningful impact. In this role, you will lead the development and evolution of integrated media strategies across a portfolio of high-impact campaigns, defining how media investments connect to brand and business objectives. You will translate consumer insights, marketplace dynamics, and performance data into clear, actionable strategies that support the growth of Target's brand and business.

You will serve as a central connector across internal teams and external partners, partnering closely with agencies, media, content, and technology partners to create cohesive, audience-centric media experiences. This role requires the ability to translate complex inputs into clear direction and confidently influence senior stakeholders to drive alignment. A deep understanding of how channels work together to deliver outcomes is essential. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of media strategies that align to brand and business goals, from early brief through execution and optimization

  • Guide and hold agency partners accountable for developing strategic frameworks, channel roles, and tactical plans that meet a high standard of quality and rigor

  • Partner closely with marketing strategy and creative teams to shape communication strategies and ensure media is fully integrated into the broader marketing approach

  • Act as the connective layer across media channel leads (performance, social, affiliate, owned, etc.) to create a unified, cross-channel strategy and clear role definition for each channel

  • Apply a deep understanding of consumer behavior, media consumption, and emerging trends to inform strategic direction and identify new opportunities

  • Guide measurement approach in partnership with agency and media effectiveness teams, ensuring strategies are grounded in clear success metrics and learning agendas

  • Lead cross-functional alignment and decision-making, influencing stakeholders across varying levels and disciplines

  • Identify and drive forward-looking initiatives, including testing frameworks, innovation opportunities, and new ways of working across teams and partners

  • Serve as a steward of media best practices, elevating the quality and consistency of strategic thinking across the organization

About You

  • 8+ years of experience in media strategy, planning, or a related field

  • Proven ability to develop integrated media strategies that connect business objectives to channel execution

  • Ability to translate complex media, consumer, and marketplace dynamics into clear, actionable recommendations for senior and executive stakeholders

  • Strong communicator and presenter, with experience influencing decisions across all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional work and drive alignment across marketing, creative, analytics, finance, and agency partners

  • Experience providing strategic oversight of agency partners, including shaping and approving media plans to ensure alignment with business goals and performance expectations

  • Demonstrated leadership presence, including mentoring team members and leading cross-functional initiatives

  • Deep understanding of consumer behavior, media consumption, and the evolving paid media landscape, including digital, data, and marketing technology

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core rolewill need to beperformedboth onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually,depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
