Job description

The Meat Clerk at the New Castle Farmers Market supports daily stand operations in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role is responsible for preparing, packaging, stocking, and presenting fresh meat products while maintaining Stoltzfus Meats' standards for quality, cleanliness, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service
  • Package, weigh, label, and stock fresh meat products
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked display cases
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO practices
  • Monitor product quality and freshness
  • Assist with basic meat preparation tasks as trained
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean equipment, prep areas, counters, scales and other surfaces
  • Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries
  • Support meat cutters and department leadership as needed

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Grocery, food service, or meat department experience helpful but not required
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Dependable and team-oriented
  • Willingness to learn basic meat department skills

Physical Requirements
