JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title:            Meat Cutter – Part Time
Department:               Market
Report To:                  Market Manager and Market Supervisor
Wage:                          $ 17.00  DOE
Position Summary:
The Meat Cutter will provide friendly and prompt customer service in the meat department whether it is a simple cooking recipe or helping customers get a perfect cut of meat. The Meat Cutter is responsible for keeping all Market meat cases stocked and clean during business hours, as well cutting, grinding, cleaning new cuts for the service case and shelves. The Meat Cutter is required to assist customers as needed while maintaining excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Ensure order accuracy to prevent over or under ordering based on seasonal trends. 
  • Prepare and display all meats in the Market and/or Deli meat case. 
  • Prepare, weigh, price and package all food items to store and/or for customer specifications.
  • Package food in clean, dated and labeled containers as required. 
  • Check all meats and display for temperature and appearance. 
  • Prevent the spoilage and contamination of foods by practicing proper sanitation and complying with all health regulations. 
  • Follow the best practices to ensure uniformity and consistency. 
  • Constantly clean all work areas and utensils. 
  • Responsible for learning basic Market/Deli Associate cashier and stocking procedures and may assist in these areas as needed. 
  • Restock supplies in assigned areas. 
  • Observes and adheres to all health and safety regulations in compliance with those adopted by the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe.
  • Must be able to perform any and all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
                                   
  • Must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to work any shift as needed to ensure the operation of the Market.
  • Minimum of 1 year of food handling experience in a meat production/sales environment is required. 
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate required.

Physical:
 
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods up to four hours in length. 
  • Must have ability to lift pots, pans, etc., up to 40 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance. 
  • Must be able to work on wet floors and in temperature extremes of both hot and cold.
