About Smart Infrastructure - Electrification and Automation:
The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit delivers a comprehensive portfolio of energy distribution systems and solutions across all markets and sales channels. We support today's power distribution needs while investing in our Future Grids portfolio and digital applications to enable the power distribution grid of tomorrow.
The EA Business Unit's U.S. headquarters in Wendell, North Carolina, specializes in medium-voltage power distribution equipment, including primary and secondary switchgear, controllers, contactors, circuit breakers, as well as OEM and replacement/retrofit solutions and services. The facility also assembles low-voltage motor control centers and low-voltage switchboards. In addition, the factory has in-house fabrication capabilities, including metal punching and bending, along with automated wire-harness manufacturing processes.
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.
Siemens EA is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our growing Wendell factory that produces high-quality, engineered and make-to-order power distribution equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing capability, continuity and continuous improvement. This includes documentation and performance measurement of manufacturing processes, new product introduction, improvements to production lines, capital expenditures, cost savings measures and fixture design
You'll make an impact by:
  • Improve safety for all personnel that work in and around production lines
  • measures and document manufacturing processes driving efforts and initiatives to reduce production errors, improve product quality and increase productivity
  • Identify and manage improvement projects that may require capital expenditures, contractors, cost savings calculations, CAD design and physical installation work
  • Work to implement tools such as Digital Work Instructions, Operator Displays, Performance/Status Dashboards, and other connected worker support tools
  • Responsible for coordinating maintenance improvements related to production areas
  • Maintain accurate production line drawings
  • Manage production line changes related to new product introduction and expansion
  • Design, procure, and validate fixtures, tools, and shop aides including (lifting equipment, templates, calibrated tooling, and safety devices)
  • Define key production work steps and required build sequences to ensure ease of assembly through a wide range of various processes and work environments.
  • Prepare critical equipment, tooling, and infrastructure to support continuously changing production challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop detailed specifications for jigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes using takttime, capacity calculations, engineering product design, and sourcing jigs and fixtures from vendors.
  • Lead manufacturing improvements, complex process changes, and technology changes including process development, training support production team on proper methods of assembly and propose improvements to build processes.
  • Coordinate and communicate technical information to all levels of the organization including vendors, project managers, production team members, and operations managers.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (Or Equivalent Experience)
  • 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean manufacturing techniques
  • AutoCAD or similar
  • Experience with SAP or similar MRP system
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience simulating manufacturing systems and processes
  • Experience with computer programming and/or database management
  • Practical experience training others on Engineering topics including Bill of materials, Engineering drawings, equipment and tooling usage and maintenance, and safety.
  • Ability to measure, design/specify and install production fixtures and equipment
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis

The pay range for this position is $74,970 - $128,520 annually with a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
