Job description

What are we looking for

At Stone Systems (www.stone-systems.com/) we are looking for a Fabrication Operations Manager for our fabrication shop located in Raleigh, NC who will have the opportunity to work in a multinational environment, in full expansion, surrounded by numerous challenging projects that you can be part of.

What you will do

As an Operations Manager, you will lead, coach, and develop the functional department (Production Management, Measure, and Installation, Customer Service, and Office Management) in the shop to ensure ultimate customer satisfaction and produce high-performance and continuous improvements in these departments. You will pair up with the local department managers and ensure flawless coordination between these areas.  You must be operationally efficient, customer service, and metrics-oriented to ensure targets are being met while being responsible for a healthy P&L.  

Going more granular, you will:

  • Partner with and Manage the Functional Managers (Production and Services) to successfully implement necessary improvements to support business objectives. 
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of 4 managers and 35 reporting employees. 
  • Effectively balance between big picture concerns with day-to-day activities. 
  • Troubleshoot and serve as the highest escalation level for problems/operating issues.  Formulate effective corrective and preventative operating solutions. 
  • Work in synchrony with the Sales Manager to manage the profitability of the shop, being co-responsible for its P&L and growth achievement.
  • Develop operation plans that include cost, volume, and resource requirements. 
  • Develop corrective action plans to deliver improved business performance.
  • Ensure that Safety Procedures with all Departments are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure capacities in the Departments are evaluated, reviewed, and addressed.
  • Ensure schedules (Maintenance, Measure, Production, and Installation) are completed and met. 
  • Work closely with managers in functional areas to optimize total production and service. 
  • Ensure cooperation between functions and maintain the global vision of the business needs among all the teams and cooperate to have a team-building environment at the shop.
  • Conduct daily operational dashboard review with 4 functional areas of the operation: office manager, install manager, production manager, and customer service manager.
  • Lead daily Hot Job meetings to ensure the remakes have priority in the schedule and the team is following the 48-hour targets to complete the jobs from the initial install date.   Assign actions and resolutions to problem jobs daily 
  • Always ensure high customer service levels by handling complex customer issues, and reviewing and solving customer complaints.
  • Ensure Production and Installation teams implement Best Practices and that we are in compliance with all safety practices. 
  • Be responsible for staff performance; this includes but is not limited to, addressing any training or daily coaching needs, ensuring that we are following all SOPs, and implementing strategies to improve the quality of service, productivity, and profitability.

What you need to succeed
  • Control and manage the Inventory of the location
  • Organize and Maintain delivery schedule daily with efficient route planning
  • Lead and maintain a safe working area ensuring that Health and Safety policies and procedures are met
  • Interact with customers and vendors as needed
  • Responsible for quality control by reviewing all incoming and outgoing products for damage
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
  • Operate and coordinate forklift, trucks, and/or railcars as needed
  • Manage all customer conflict that arises from various problems that may occur when shipping and receiving material
  • Manage accurate and timely invoicing, customer quotes, and orders
  • Support the sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets highlighting in advance any issues that may arise from operational delays
  • Monitor service levels of orders and meet the service commitments to customers
  • Lead Operation and Customer Service teams
  • Other duties as assigned

The starting salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $100,000 per year
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible Potential Annual Award depending on individual performance and Company performance, in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan.

The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, including Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Short-term and Long-term Disability and Basic Life and Supplemental Insurance. You will also be eligible to enroll in our 401(k) Retirement Plan, starting the first of the month.
Paid time off:
Vacation time will be accrued monthly and will be subject to change per the Company's policy updates. 5 days of sick time. Full-time employees will receive 2 floating holidays to use each year. If hired after July 1, employees receive 1 floating holiday to use for that calendar year.
