Job description

The Manufacturing Manager position will be responsible for directing our Welding and Machining departments in the execution of machining and welding projects.  This position will work daily in coordination with the Project Managers to ensure schedule milestones are achieved in the most efficient way possible.  This position requires forward thinking, problem solving and eliminating roadblocks before they occur. The successful candidate will be hands on in the trenches with the team.  Experience reading technical drawings, operating or programming CNC mills and lathes and working with hand and power tools is a must. Filling in for operator absences or increased capacity needs will be common.

Role & Responsibilities

·         Assign daily task based on project schedules

·         Identify and proactively prevent project delays and quality issues

·         Train technicians in machine operations, best practices and quality outcomes

·         Organization and inventory of machine tools and raw material

·         Receive and review fabrication drawings

·         Define material required and work with purchasing to procure

·         Develop cut sheets, fabrication instructions, and job sheets.

·         Quality inspection of department deliverables

·         Converse with engineers to ensure design feasibility and intent

·         Attend daily and weekly meetings to ensure clear communication, as well as to stay informed of the daily ongoings of the operation

·         Ensure the work environment is kept safe, clean and well organized

· Participate in both employee recognition and disciplinary activities

Requirements:

·         Associates degree in technical field or equivalent work experience

·         Experience in technical leadership, 3yrs demonstrated success

·         Experience running a fabrication & machine department, 2yrs preferred

·         Prior CNC operation or CNC programing experience preferred

· Strong interpretation of mechanical drawings

· Understanding of welding and fabrication best practices

·         Possess strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot issues

·         Prior machine maintenance experience required to keep operation running smoothly

·         Mastercam or similar CAD/CAM software navigation

·         Familiarity with conversational programing

·         Familiarity with manual machining methods

·         Ability to use Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation
