Job description
Who We Are
At CPC (Colder Products Company), we’re not just connecting fluid lines – we’re connecting people, ideas, and possibilities. For nearly 50 years, we’ve been engineering cutting-edge fluid connection technologies that power industries from biopharmaceutical, thermal management (liquid cooling of electronics), medical, industrial, and chemical handling markets.
But what sets us apart? Our people.
We’re a team of problem-solvers, innovators, and forward-thinkers who thrive in a culture that values collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. Headquartered in Minneapolis/St. Paul, with over 700 employees in 14 countries, we’re growing fast, and we want you to grow with us!
Your Role
Are you ready to make an impact and work with a company that values your expertise, ideas, and career growth? As our next Manufacturing Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping our organization’s success. This isn’t just a job – it’s a career move where you’ll thrive, learn, and enjoy coming to work.
Summary: The Manufacturing Manager has ownership of our plant’s manufacturing operations, leading a large direct labor workforce, supervisors, and technicians to not only keep the lines moving but also to transform how we work while in clean room environments. The person in this role is an analytical planner who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments, makes data-based decisions, plans for capacity, and possesses a passion for coaching teams. They will optimize safety, quality, delivery, cost and employee engagement on a large scale.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Ownership & Execution
- Own end-to-end operation performance for daily production, ensuring all safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets are consistently met.
- Oversee shift execution across a large direct labor workforce, maintaining high efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Serve as the escalation point for daily operational disruptions, making informed decisions to keep production on schedule.
Analytics & Capacity Planning
- Optimize and execute data-driven capacity plans that adapt to shifting volume demands and product mix changes. Make recommendations to address capacity constraints when they occur.
- Analyze throughput metrics, takt times, and labor variances to optimize staffing levels, cross-training matrices, and shift schedules.
- Manage labor efficiency metrics including productivity, direct vs indirect hours, and overtime.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools and Six Sigma principles.
- Coach and mentor front-line supervisors and operators on structured problem-solving methodologies rather than only applying quick fixes.
- Lead value-streaming mapping events and kaizen workshops while making recommendations for improved processes and equipment that eliminate waste and optimize process flows.
- Comply with all Quality policies while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Support the process of ISO, ASI, and other certifications deemed necessary by the business.
- Adhere to all safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned to support business and department needs.
People Leadership:
Management Responsibilities:
- Build a safety-first, engaged, and accountable shop floor culture across a diverse, multi-shift team.
- Directly manage shift supervisors conducting regular performance evaluations, providing feedback, and building succession pipelines.
- Collaborate with HR to drive strategies for recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, and overall shop-floor experience.
- Attract, train, and develop a world-class team focused on meeting customer expectations.
- Host daily tier board meetings and monthly town halls.
Direct Reports:
- Production Supervisors
- Technicians
- Production Personnel
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Management, or relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Lean, Six Sigma, and/or continuous improvement.
- Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience.
- Manufacturing experience in controlled environments preferred.
- Strong skills in production analytics and reporting.
- Have a strong understanding of inventory management, production planning, and scheduling.
- Have a deep understanding and/or education around different flow management techniques, especially within low-volume/high-mix businesses.
- Have a working understanding of quality management systems such as ISO9001.
- Have a working understanding of health and safety best practices.
Travel:
- Up to 10% domestically and internationally as required.
