Manufacturing Laborer

Summerset Marine Construction has been providing a full range of lakefront services to its customers in Southeastern Wisconsin since 1990. As the largest pier and lift dealer in Wisconsin, Summerset has grown over the years along with its customers' needs, able to provide the expertise and products necessary for the perfect waterfront solution. Servicing hundreds of clients from Madison to Milwaukee, Summerset Marine provides the highest level of expertise to design, install and support any pier and boat lift system, always on call for any service needs.

About the Role

The Manufacturing Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry and construction tasks that support the assembly and installation of piers, decking, and related accessories. This role requires precise measurement, cutting, and framing work, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD drawings to ensure all projects meet quality and design specifications. The Laborer must maintain a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and craftsmanship while collaborating with team members to meet production deadlines. This position also requires flexibility to float between tasks and departments as needed and to perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do
  • Perform carpentry work, including framing, cutting, and assembling materials with precision, ensuring accurate measurements and adherence to design specifications.
  • Pound decking, use the up-cut saw to pre-cut HDPE for decking pallets, bumpers, posts, and other materials, and complete skirting sections in-house.
  • Construct framing for piers and structural elements by accurately reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and project plans.
  • Support assembly and installation of decking materials and related accessories such as stairs, benches, and racks.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment to maintain an efficient and orderly workspace.
  • Collaborate closely with supervisors and team members to maintain workflow efficiency and meet project deadlines.
  • Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a proactive approach when taking on new tasks or responsibilities assigned by leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in framing, carpentry, or construction preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, construction drawings, and operating hand and power tools safely.
  • Familiarity with modern carpentry techniques, materials, and measuring tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction math, measurements, and layout techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
