Fiberglass Mold Technician (Demolding Specialist)

Location: Marion, SC Manufacturing Facility

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Fiberglass Mold Technician (Demolding Specialist) to join our team at our Marion, South Carolina Manufacturing Facility. This hands-on role is critical to production, ensuring the safe extraction of fiberglass pool shells while maintaining mold integrity and premium surface quality.

About the Role

A Fiberglass Demolding Specialist is responsible for safely removing finished fiberglass pool shells from molds and preparing molds for subsequent production cycles. This role directly impacts product quality and the longevity of high-value tooling. This position is an overnight role from 9 PM till 5:30 AM.

What You’ll Do

  • Safely demold fiberglass pool shells using wedges, compressed air, mechanical pullers, and other specialized tools
  • Clean and prepare mold surfaces for the next production cycle
  • Perform initial trimming of excess material using hand and power tools (saws, grinders)
  • Inspect pool shells for surface defects (e.g., air bubbles, thin spots)
  • Inspect molds for damage, wear, or resin buildup
  • Perform minor cosmetic mold repairs and document repair needs
  • Maintain accurate inspection and repair records
  • Stage molds for gel coat and lamination processes
  • Stage finished pools for foam application and transfer between production areas
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Support overtime as needed during peak production periods

What We’re Looking For

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, fiberglass work, or mold operations (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Experience using power tools such as grinders, saws, and pneumatic tools
  • Prior fiberglass or gelcoat experience (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with mold release agents and basic mold maintenance (Preferred)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work (standing, bending, lifting up to 75 lbs)
  • Comfortable wearing required PPE, including respirators
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift (or willingness to be trained)
