Job description

Respect Life Ministry, servicing families, babies, and women in the local community, is hiring two part time Ultrasound Technicians for their two newly acquired mobile pregnancy center units, one for Broward and one for Miami Dade County. As a member of the Respect Life Ministry team, the Mobile Pregnancy Center Ultrasound Technician performs limited ultrasound examinations and assists in planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities of the Mobile Pregnancy Help Center. Working under the Director, with guidance from the Assistant Director, the Mobile Ultrasound Technician assists in outreach to local parishes and community groups, to solicit volunteer involvement and funding, with a goal of growing the visibility of the mobile ministry in the community. This position provides direct services for program recipients, assists with training volunteers, performs administrative tasks, and participates in projects and initiatives related to the ministry. This position also requires being a member of the Respect Life Ministry as well as the Parish Life Teams. The Mobile Pregnancy Center Ultrasound Technician performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Respect Life Office and the Archdiocese of Miami.


Responsibilities include:

  • Comply with established Respect Life Ministry policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods, and safety codes. Demonstrate compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.
  • Perform limited ultrasound examinations for the purpose of pregnancy verification, utilizing established technique and protocols; evaluate images for optimal technical quality, send images to radiologist.
  • Utilize appropriate forms, ensuring that clients understand each form they sign.
  • Check equipment supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Communicate any problems or requests for supplies to Mobile Pregnancy Center Program Coordinator/Director.
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work environment; provide a sterile environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Responsible for following OSHA requirements and proper hazardous waste management and disposal on the mobile center.
  • Assist Mobile Program Coordinator in the daily operations of the mobile center, including counseling clients, facilitating pregnancy tests, making community referrals, answering phone, making appointments, and training/supervising volunteers as needed.
  • Provide pregnancy counseling to clients in accordance with Florida Pregnancy Center Network (FPCN) and Respect Life Ministry guidelines.
  • Enter client information accurately and efficiently into databases.
  • Assist the Respect Life Ministry team with administrative and other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Assist the Respect Life Ministry team with community outreach efforts such as representing the Mobile Pregnancy Center at health fairs, parish speaking events, etc.
  • Participate in Respect Life projects and initiatives related to the ministry.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, meetings and workshops.
  • Attend staff meetings with Medical Advisors annually as required for ultrasound program.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of an accredited ultrasound program.
  • Preferred: Associates degree and one year’s experience as an Ultrasound Technician.
  • Current/valid ARDMS certification in OB.
  • Excellent time management, including ability to multi-task and retain accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
  • Very good written communication skills, including spelling and grammar required.
  • Good Haitian-Creole and/or Spanish language communication skills strongly preferred.
  • Excellent personal interaction skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging and crisis situations.
  • Excellent computer application skills.
  • Must be supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Knowledge of basic tenets of Catholic Church and parish structures.
  • Must have a professional demeanor.
