POSITION SUMMARY


Golisano Institute for Business and Entrepreneurship seeks a highly skilled and compassionate College Wellbeing Coordinator to join our team and support the overall wellbeing of our students at the Buffalo campus. Reporting to the AVP for Academics (AVPA) at the Buffalo campus with a dotted line report to the AVP for Student Experience (AVPSE) at the Rochester campus, this role requires expertise in providing programming and support for students, as well as the ability to respond to crises effectively. The ideal candidate will hold a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the Wellbeing Coordinator promotes student engagement and fosters a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive campus culture through the coordination of diverse events and activities. As an institution that welcomed its inaugural cohort of students in the fall of 2026, this is a unique opportunity to help build a culture and infrastructure that prioritizes student wellbeing. The Coordinator will work with the AVPA and AVPSE on potential future staffing needed to maintain high quality programs and services at Golisano Institute-- while meeting the needs of our students to grow and evolve in the areas of major responsibilities below.


Prior to the official opening of the Buffalo campus in September, all Buffalo campus employees are expected to travel to Rochester up to three days a week.



MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


Design and implement a stepped-care model to develop support plans for students based on their mental health and holistic wellness needs, including but not limited to directly providing limited individual counseling as deemed necessary, referral to appropriate Institute workshops and group programs (developed by the Coordinator), and referral to outside providers for students in need of services beyond the Instituteโ€™s scope of practice.

  • Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations, including mental health emergencies, and provide appropriate interventions and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation of counseling sessions and interventions.
  • Collaborate with campus staff, faculty, and external resources to develop a network of support for students in need, including referrals for students in need of long-term counseling support.
  • Serve as a resource for students seeking guidance on navigating college life, academic challenges, and personal growth, and support faculty in their roles in supporting students.
  • Serve on the Coordination, Assessment, Response and Education (CARE) Team to develop and follow through on intervention strategies for students navigating challenges impacting their success.

Develop and implement comprehensive wellbeing programs and initiatives that promote mental, emotional, and physical health among a diverse student body.

Foster a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive campus culture.

  • Plan, promote, and execute a diverse and inclusive range of student activities and events throughout the academic year, including social, cultural, recreational, and educational programs.
  • Provide coordination and logistical support for new student orientation and the Speaking from Experience series.
  • Collaborate with the emerging Student Advisory Team to develop programs that promote student engagement and holistic development of wellbeing.

QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION


  • Advanced degree: Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification, professional license, or credential: The ideal candidate will hold a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification.


EXPERIENCE


  • Proven experience in providing counseling, support, and crisis intervention to college-age students.


EXCEPTIONAL SKILLS


  • Knowledge of student development theories and best practices in college mental health and wellbeing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations with composure, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and Golisano Institute community.
