Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Information Security Associate within Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture, to support the Database Engineering team. Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture is responsible for delivering and supporting enterprise platforms across global environments including cloud, data centers, distributed systems, and networking. This organization ensures stability, scalability, and secure operation of enterprise infrastructure services that support business operations and customer-facing capabilities.

In this role, you will support infrastructure and network security initiatives by assisting with database activity monitoring using tools such as IBM Guardium and supporting direct-to-Splunk logging pipelines across multiple platforms, while helping coordinate ServiceNow-driven changes end-to-end, including planning, validation, and production readiness. In partnership with engineering, operations, and stakeholder teams, you will track dependencies and drive execution while leveraging scripting (e.g., Python), appliance configuration, evidence validation, SIEM support, and asset tracking to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery through strong operational oversight.

This role is ideal for early-career professionals interested in infrastructure engineering, enterprise logging, and technical execution within large-scale environments. Candidates will gain hands-on experience with tools such as Guardium and Splunk, exposure to coordinated delivery across teams, and a strong foundation in both technical support and execution management, while developing skills in automation, platform operations, and enterprise infrastructure services.

This position is part of the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

As a full-time employee in the CODE Program, you'll begin with immersive onboarding and continue with hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development. You'll be part of a collaborative cohort supported by a dedicated program management team, gaining exposure to real-world projects with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

Note: Wells Fargo only considers candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who do not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the operation and maintenance of IBM Guardium for database activity monitoring and security telemetry

  • Assist with the management of database logging pipelines and Splunk integrations across multiple platforms

  • Help maintain and update Splunk knowledge objects such as searches, dashboards, alerts, macros, and lookups under guidance

  • Support the review and improvement of SIEM detection use cases aligned to defined threat scenarios and requirements

  • Assist in security incident response activities, including log review, investigation support, and documentation of findings

  • Partner with team members, vendors, and stakeholders to support ongoing initiatives and operational needs

  • Participate in on-call rotations, deployment activities, and change management processes aligned with SDLC practices

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams to support improvements to platform reliability and security controls

  • Provide input and assist with technical guidance for internal teams on assigned initiatives

  • Review and analyze security logs to help identify anomalies, trends, and potential control gaps

  • Support vulnerability identification efforts and assist with risk assessments and remediation tracking

  • Assist in the review, documentation, testing, and ongoing support of solutions across logging, telemetry, and data protection areas

  • Contribute to maintaining documentation in Jira, Confluence, and other knowledge management tools

  • Participate in knowledge sharing sessions and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement

  • Assist with maintaining Splunk content and supporting monitoring activities at scale

  • Support automation efforts using scripting (e.g., Python), configuration, and tooling integrations

  • Work with both domestic and international teams to support delivery efforts

  • Maintain accurate, high-quality operational and technical documentation

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes while contributing to team goals

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Information Security Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience (coursework, internship, or professional) using or supporting security or logging tools such as Splunk, including running basic searches, reviewing alerts, or updating simple dashboards

  • 6+ months of exposure to database activity monitoring concepts or tools (e.g., IBM Guardium), with the ability to explain how database activity is captured and reviewed

  • 6+ months of experience supporting SIEM-related activities, such as triaging alerts, documenting findings, or assisting with basic detection use case updates

  • Demonstrated foundational knowledge of database systems, auditing, or administration through at least one project, coursework, or hands-on lab

  • 6+ months of hands-on experience writing or modifying basic scripts (e.g., Python) to automate simple tasks, manipulate data, or support tooling integrations

  • Basic understanding of infrastructure, application, or cloud security concepts, demonstrated through certifications or practical experience within the last year

  • Demonstrated ability to create clear and structured documentation (e.g., procedures, audit notes, or technical summaries) and maintain updates in tools such as Jira, Confluence, or other knowledge management platforms

  • Progress toward or completion of at least one entry-level certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Splunk Fundamentals, or cloud fundamentals certification)
