Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Division Manager and/or ER Director, the Emergency Response Manager oversees daily activities of all emergency response operations, activities, and issues for an assigned group to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance in accordance with all applicable regulations and USES policies, practices, and procedures. Responsible for the direct supervision of foreman/ field technicians and operators ensuring that all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to and job requirements are achieved. Emergency Response Manager will handle all billing, waste disposal, inventory management, and notification needs for the division’s emergency response work.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Evaluate subordinate work performance and counsels subordinates on both work and administrative matters; assists management in identifying developmental and training needs of employees.
•    Communicate clearly and effectively with other employees, provide input and constructive suggestions.
•    Investigate customer complaints and take proper action to resolve them on a timely basis; manages customer service using measurement tools such as Customer Feedback Surveys.
•    Maintain orderly checklists, complete, and update paperwork; ensure a high level of accuracy and completeness with attention to detail; this includes ER inventory and equipment maintaining and restocking needs 
•    Build rapport and productive working relationships with customers, vendors and other outside agents. Effectively represent company's and customer’s interest to maximize profits
•    Execute company preventive maintenance program for assigned equipment; inspects equipment periodically to ensure maintenance and safety standards are met and in good working condition; generate repair and maintenance summaries and request as needed for all equipment
•    Build and maintain rapport and positive working relations with all inter-company, intra-affiliate staff to resolve problems; within reason, does what it takes to meet and exceed the expectations of the company.
•    Review work orders daily and ensures work performance is planned and coordinated according to schedule, quality, and budget objectives; manages productivity and enforces or modifies work procedures as needed; Monitor morale of personnel to personnel and endeavor to maintain a high level and “can do” attitude to maximize output per hour
•    Adhere to the policies and procedures; promptly reports concerns or potential violations in accordance with reporting procedures; resolves complaints and effects minor disciplinary measures when necessary
•    Maintain a safe work environment and identify and address any potential hazards; follow and promote company and federal DOT, OSHA and other applicable health and safety standards, rules and procedures. Ensures all Health and Safety requirements are adhered to; conducts safety meetings and audits; participates in safety investigations and performs hazard recognition awareness to remove all hazards from the workplace ensuring a safe and efficient work environment;
•    Actively participate in the feedback and coaching process; conducts performance evaluations, training, planning, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with USES HR policies, practices, and procedures; mentors employee as they progress through their career path
•    Plan and schedule ongoing work; recommends adjustments to staffing levels or work procedures to accommodate resource decisions made at higher levels; Oversee assignment and scheduling of personnel and equipment to meet job requirements; maintains staffing levels consistent with anticipated demand coordinating group activities and interactions with other sections/shifts
•    Conduct a wide range of activities related to staff work, such as assigning work, tracking progress, and reviewing final work product; Provide daily supervision of assigned project staff of multiple projects/tasks to ensure quality and timely completion of work and processing; motivates, trains, assigns work, and manages performance of staff to ensure achievement of production goals
•    Follow good time management practices; attentive and prepared for job duties at start of each shift; maintains professional appearance and conducts themselves properly as representatives of USES; supervise multiple jobs/tasks simultaneously
•    Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and training; Demonstrates proficiency at a wide variety of assignments and can direct personnel in operational procedures to complete assignments; provides field work, general labor activities, and other duties as assigned
•    Train subordinates/team members on-the-job in equipment operation, services, processes, and necessary paperwork; Maintains up-to-date certifications including confined space, emergency response, HAZWOPER, etc.
•    Provide overall direction and administration of assigned site-based operation.
•    Act as On Call Project Information Coordinator to assist in billing, dispatch, notification, and rental needs for emergency projects for other divisions when scheduled.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•    GED or High School Diploma required; college degree highly preferred
•    3-5years industry experience with an emphasis on chemical, HAZMAT Response, Oil Spill Response, and/or environmental response and remediation; previous experience as an emergency response operator or foreman preferred.
•    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the company.
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
•    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
•    Intermediate Level: Fully proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and some basic understanding of other Microsoft products. Full understanding of Email and Internet. Ability to assist others with any word or excel questions.
•    Valid Driver’s License
•    Valid TWIC
•    40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification
•    OSHA Basic Orientation Plus
