Telecom Project Manager whose primary mission is to drive telecom cost reduction and rate optimization across domestic and international services. You'll come in quickly, understand carrier rate structures (Verizon, AT&T and other carriers), interrogate huge billing/data sets in Excel, identify savings opportunities, and own negotiations and implementation - including delivering measurable savings to large public-sector customers (e.g., the MTA). This is a pragmatic, execution-first role: heavy Excel/data work + vendor/carrier scrutiny + project management discipline.

Key responsibilities

  • Audit and analyze large telecom billing datasets (wireline, wireless, international long distance, roaming, IoT/M2M) to identify inefficiencies, billing errors, and savings opportunities.
  • Benchmark international and domestic rates; map rate drivers and recommend alternative routing/pricing.
  • Lead carrier/vendor negotiations (Verizon, AT&T, MVNOs, international carriers and suppliers) to reduce MRC/NRC and international charges.
  • Create and execute cost-savings projects end-to-end: scope, business case, timeline, risk mitigation, procurement, implementation, acceptance.
  • Reconcile carrier invoices and dispute/rectify inaccuracies; implement invoice validation controls and automated checks.
  • Build and maintain detailed cost models, monthly reporting and dashboards to show baseline spend, realized savings, and forecast.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, Legal (contracts), Procurement, Network Operations, and client stakeholders (public agencies such as the MTA).
  • Implement rate optimization strategies (pooled plans, aggregated contracts, negotiation of international tariffs, SIM management, rate card reassignments).
  • Document playbooks: contract negotiation playbook, invoice audit procedure, vendor scorecards and escalation paths.
  • Be an operational owner: hands-on with spreadsheets, willing to dig into line-level charges and make remediation happen.
