Job description

Job Description Summary
The CT Systems Scientist works in close collaboration with a cross-functional team made up of engineers, clinical applications, researchers, customers, marketing and field teams to define and develop new product technologies to meet customer needs. The CT Systems Scientist position distinguishes itself through a high emphasis on new product innovations and a strong focus on image/signal quality, system safety, and system calibration to drive significant design improvements in product architecture.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional team made up of engineers, marketing, product definition, and chief engineers to define system requirements for new products and technology roadmaps
  • Working across functions and team boundaries to define, design, and implement technology solutions on new product introductions
  • Developing timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems through strong understanding of mathematics, physics and image/signal processing fundamentals
  • Providing domain expertise to own/lead technical design reviews, investigation of technical risks, as well as providing innovative solutions to achieve optimal system performance
  • Developing methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on system performance and image/signal quality.
  • Developing requirements for key system performance parameters as they relate to image/signal quality, system safety, performance and calibration
  • Driving system tradeoff discussions within new product developments by having a full understanding of system architecture and interfaces
  • Investigating customer questions and complaints to provide technical answers and solutions
  • Providing technical leadership for project execution
  • Implementing and teaching engineering principles and standards
  • Driving innovation for competitive technical differentiation
  • Mentoring junior engineers in area of expertise

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field
  • 2 -3 years of relevant academic or industry experience
  • Proven ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems through strong understanding of mathematics, physics and image/signal processing fundamentals
  • Effective communication skills - ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated ability to pursue tasks to completion
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time
  • Must be willing to work in our Waukesha, WI facility full-time

Desired Characteristics
  • CT physics, X-ray physics, CT calibration, CT imaging and CT image quality development experience
  • Ph.D. Degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Medical Physics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated record of innovation in technology development
  • 3 years of relevant academic or industry experience
  • Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis, modeling and simulations (Matlab, Python, C++)
  • Experience with CT specific device operation and troubleshooting issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with research collaborations
  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
  • Excellent influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
