Established in Taiwan in 1974, Hon Hai Technology Group, commonly known as Foxconn, is the world’s largest electronics manufacturer and leading provider of technological solutions with a network of over 233 campuses across 24 countries. In the US, Foxconn employs 8,000 across 56 different sites with manufacturing operations in Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, and California. As of 2025, Foxconn ranks 28th among the Fortune Global 500 and reported revenue of approximately USD $259 billion.

The company’s diverse product offerings span four major segments: smart consumer electronics, cloud, and networking solutions, computing, and various other components. Foxconn makes 40% of the consumer electronics that we find in our everyday lives. In recent years, Hon Hai has adopted the 3+3 strategy, focusing on three emerging industries - electric vehicles, digital health solutions, and robotics - while leveraging three key technologies: next-generation communications, artificial intelligence (AI), and semiconductors. Together, these initiatives position the company as a leader in innovation for the 21st century.

Hon Hai Technology Group is deeply committed to championing environmental sustainability within its manufacturing processes. By integrating sustainability into its operations framework, the company strives to serve as a best-practice model for global enterprises, enhancing corporate responsibility while meeting the growing demand for environmentally conscious production methods.

Job Summary:

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for factory layout planning, space allocation, and material flow design for AI server and rack manufacturing operations, supporting the product lifecycle from New Product Introduction (NPI) through production ramp and Mass Production (MP). This role develops and maintains factory layouts, analyzes space and capacity requirements, optimizes material and personnel flow, and coordinates layout requirements with manufacturing, test, warehouse, facilities, and EHS teams to ensure that the factory footprint supports safe, efficient, and scalable production operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain factory layout drawings and space allocation plans in AutoCAD, including space requirement analyses covering equipment footprints, aisle widths, material staging, WIP buffers, and utility clearances.
  • Design and optimize material, logistics, and personnel flow to minimize travel distance, congestion, and handling, translating build plans and capacity models into floor space and equipment layout requirements.
  • Coordinate layout requirements with facilities teams (power, cooling, compressed air, network, ESD flooring) and ensure layouts comply with safety, fire protection, emergency egress, ergonomics, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, local building codes).
  • Support facility buildout, expansion, line relocation, and ramp phase transitions with layout drawings, phasing plans, and detailed equipment move and cutover plans, including installation layouts for new equipment, tooling, and test infrastructure.
  • Analyze space utilization and operational data, maintain layout standards and as-built documentation with change control, prepare proposals for management and customer reviews, apply simulation or digital twin tools where applicable, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Test, Quality, Warehouse, Facilities, EHS, and Program Management teams, performing other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical, engineering or physics field required.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt), or related certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 4-7 years of industrial engineering, facility planning, or manufacturing engineering experience in electronics manufacturing or a related industry, including hands-on factory layout planning, space allocation, and material flow design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required; experience with simulation tools (e.g., FlexSim, AnyLogic, Plant Simulation) or digital twin platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Omniverse), and familiarity with safety, fire protection, and egress requirements affecting factory layouts, is a plus.
  • Experience supporting NPI, production ramp, or facility buildout projects and with AI server, rack integration, or high-performance computing products and ODM/OEM manufacturing models preferred, combined with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
