Job description

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Police Service Aide. The Police Service Aide is responsible for managing the police fleet of vehicles.

This role involves preparing police vehicles for use by installing special equipment and completing repairs and maintenance before the vehicles are taken out of service. Additionally, the Police Service Aide ensures that police vehicles are properly stocked with consumable items like traffic cones and flares. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include: Ensures that new police vehicles are properly equipped and functioning before being placed into service.

Evaluates daily repair needs of the police vehicles and schedules the necessary repairs with vendors or Fleet Division. Coordinates the transportation requirements to shuttle vehicles for maintenance; prioritizes vehicles for maintenance work to ensure patrol operations are not negatively impacted. Ensures inventory of equipment is maintained in the vehicles.

Evaluates the need to disable the police radio while vehicles are in repair or maintenance service. Researches and determines that special equipment used in police vehicles is cost effective and provides the functionality necessary, and communicates that information to management. Prioritizes work and communicates that information to management.

In addition to possessing the ability to live out our core and functional values daily, candidates must possess the following requirements: High School Diploma or GED One year of experience coordinating repairs and maintenance of vehicles Valid Arizona Driver's License Knowledge of motor vehicles and special police equipment to evaluate needed repairs and ensure maintenance is performed and scheduled in a timely manner Knowledge of mobile computer systems and basic functioning Skill in electronic database systems and MS Office Ability to safely operate a variety of passenger, RV, and special use vehicles Ability to communicate information effectively between employees, vendors, and management Ability to work independently with sound decision-making abilities Skill in utilizing hand tools for making minor adjustments to police-related hardware Special Requirement: Because of the confidential, sensitive nature of information handled, successful completion of an extensive Police Department Background Investigation is required. Physical Demands and Working Conditions for this position include: This position has been designated as Medium Work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The role also requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be subject to hazardous physical conditions, atmospheric conditions, hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, restricted work space, and intense noise.
