Job description

Cascade Engineering Services is looking for a Battery Test Engineer to support battery development by executing test plans, operating test equipment, and analyzing results.

Responsibilities include:

Interpret test plans and requests to create new battery tester procedures, measurement documents, and resource allocationย 

Operate and enable battery testing, supporting battery development.ย 

  • Starting and monitoring testsย 
  • Processing test data and communicating resultsย 
  • Prepare cells and packs for testย 
  • Troubleshooting unexpected issuesย 
  • Processing incoming cells and packsย 
  • Collaborating with other team members to manage multiple tests and tasks in parallelย 

Lab housekeeping and inventory management (for example, familiarity with 5S procedures)ย 

Basic Knowledgeable about Li-ion Rechargeable Batteriesย 

Requirements

  • AA in Electronics with 2+ years of battery lab work experience, or BS in Engineering, Physics or related fields.ย 
  • Experience with batteries and battery testers.
  • Experience with scripting programs; Experience in writing scripts for battery testing is preferred. ย 
  • Proficiency in parsing and analyzing large amounts of data.ย 
  • Solid experience with data collection, data storage, data manipulation and analysisย 
  • Experience writing detailed and accurate test protocols ย 
  • Ability to understand the context of the tests being performed, able to interpret and explain the test results, and make recommendationsย 
  • Excellent troubleshooting/debug skills.ย 
  • Skill in creating clear and concise summariesย 
  • Knowledge of Li-ion battery operation and performance including charging, discharging, safety,impedance, aging, cycle life,temperatureeffects, failure modes, handling and pack assembly methods, processes and procedures.ย 
  • Experience with hardware prototype bring-up, debugging, fault detection, and failure analysis.ย 
  • Ability to work in a lab environment andlift upto 25 lbs.ย 
  • Safety mindset with attention to detail.ย 
  • Excellent time and task management skills.ย 
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multipleworkflows.ย 
  • Strong skills in communicating, collaborating verbally and in writing.ย
