Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Maintenance Department and its employees including the repair and upkeep of all production and plant equipment and the repair and maintenance of buildings and grounds.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Promotes and ensures safe work habits including compliance and improvements to company and departmental safety procedures and goals
  • Supervises and establishes safety procedures for maintenance work. This includes safety programs such as lock-out/tag-out, confined spaces, and arc-flash which meet requirements of EHS, OSHA, NEC, NFPA and company standards.
  • Supervises and assist in scheduling the repair and improvement of production and non-production equipment by Maintenance Technicians and Contractors to minimize both planned and unplanned outages of all production and support equipment.
  • Supervises department personnel including, but not limited to, performance evaluations, recognition, discipline, training, payroll approval and selection. Recommends employee training needs; works to remedy training deficiencies by recommending/initiating appropriate plans of action.
  • Works with all applicable parties to ensure adequate utility resources, environmental & hazardous waste removal, and security, fire, and emergency systems.
  • Recommends and/or implements preventative maintenance programs and improvement modifications for plant equipment and facilities. Maintains timely records and reports relative to all projects and equipment within the plant. Compiles operational and personnel records to include time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, test results, etc., to aid in making data driven decisions.
  • Oversees/directs work activities of maintenance technicians in a manner to provide high level of work performance.
  • Recommends, organizes, and manages daily maintenance procedures for repair and overhaul of all plant equipment.
  • Provides technical advice on matters relating to equipment modifications and time estimates on maintenance projects.
  • Assures that the necessary materials, parts, tools, equipment, and manpower are available to successfully complete all maintenance assignments.
  • Assists as requested in the layout, installation, movement/dismantling of plant equipment, and scope development/completion of Plant Misc. Projects.
  • Directs contracted service providers as needed.
  • Adheres to Amcor values and actively contributes to a high performance culture.

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of electricity including both A.C. and D.C., electronics, power distribution, and circuitry protection.

  • A four year bachelor of engineering degree is recommended for this position.
  • Five to seven years of in-plant exposure to either mechanical or electrical maintenance responsibilities.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
