Summary

The Hershey Company Memphis plant is a non-union plant producing products such as Icebreakers Gum, Ice Breakers Mints, Breath Saver Mints, and Good N Plenty Licorice. In a high-speed complex environment.
The Sr Manager Technical Assuranceโ€™s role is to ensure the reliability, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the plants manufacturing assets and infra-structure. This responsibility includes all site property, buildings, and utility systems.
This role provides leadership and management of site technical resources, including engineering, maintenance, information systems, facility, and utility personnel, as well as accountability for technical third-party labor services.
The Sr Manager Technical Assurance is the plant lead for all engineering, project development, and project execution activities, including development and management of the site capital plan and has overall budgetary responsibility.
This position is accountable for all plant maintenance functions and personnel, ensuring asset reliability plans are developed, properly planned, executed, and continuously improved to support ongoing operational requirements. They are also responsible for the development and management of the respective budgetary requirements for maintaining site asset reliability.
The Sr Manager Technical Assurance is a key member of the plant senior leadership team, providing technical guidance and contributes to overall site strategy development.

Responsibilities
  • Leads development, management, and implementation of the site capital plan, providing prioritization, justification, and cost estimates; includes both asset sustaining and cost justified projects. Ensures solutions are in place for critical asset and infra-structure needs.
  • Leads development of engineering support staff, including leadership and career development, project development and management, and other technical skills.
  • Overall responsibility for all site engineering activities and resources.
  • Manages capital budgets, ensures accuracy and deliverance of financial forecasts.
  • Site leadership and support for the development and execution of new product and capacity expansion capital solutions.
  • Leads internal engineering efforts for facility and asset improvements, complying with safety, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Ensures project design and execution activities align with The Hershey Company standards, processes, and policies, including capital administration tasks.
  • Represents plant on cross-functional project exploratory and development teams, interacting and presenting to Executive Leadership.
Maintenance
  • Ensures asset reliability through the development, planning, and execution of preventative and predictive maintenance plans. Leads continuous improvement of maintenance activities through the utilization of equipment and process data, aligned with the Hershey Lean PM Pillar.
  • Accountable for the management and organizational development of maintenance personnel, including salary leadership and hourly technical positions.
  • Responsible for the development and management of the plant maintenance budgets, including parts, supplies, maintenance labor, contract, and service labor.
  • Ensures resource alignment and escalation for effective problem solving and issue mitigation for safety, quality, and operational impacting issues. Supports the development of equipment improvement activities.
  • Supports the continuous development of the operational integration of equipment support activities.
Facilities, Utilities & Waste Treatment
  • Responsible for all utility operations and maintenance required to support plant operations, including steam, compressed air, hot/cold water, process and facility HVAC, sanitary and process waste handling equipment.
  • Supports facility maintenance and improvement efforts, through maintenance, plant expense and capital, to ensure the facility infra-structure meets the requirements to safety support employees and plant operations.
  • Develop utility usage budgets and acts as liaison with site utility providers, as needed, to support maintenance and repair of delivery systems.
Organizational Senior Leadership
  • As site technical leader, is a key contributor to the plant senior leadership team. Collaborates on the development and execution of plant strategic actions, including organizational strategy, contractual management, and safety, quality, and operational initiatives.
  • Leads collaboration and development of new technologies, products, and capacity initiatives with senior plant staff.
Minimum Knowledge And Responsibilities
  • Practical knowledge and relevant experience in the areas of Maintenance, Utilities, Process and Packaging Engineering, Project Management and Capital Administration.
  • Management and leadership experience with technical teams and personnel development.
  • Knowledge of TPM, SAP, capital control, engineering specifications and standards, food safety, policies, procedures, and GMPโ€™s.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, utilization of data-based decision making, process-based actions.
  • Demonstrative communication skills in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in the food and beverage, or consumer packaged goods preferred.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
  • B.S. in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical) or other science degree with significant technical content or equivalent or equivalent job experience
  • Masterโ€™s degree in engineering or an MBA is a plus
  • Minimum 10 yearsโ€™ experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Experience in engineering and leadership roles within consumer-packaged goods or food and beverage industries
  • Two or more years of personnel management experience
  • Two or more years of project management experience
