Job Description

About the opportunity: 

As a Logistics Specialist, you will perform a variety of logistics, mail center, shipping, receiving, inventory management, and distribution functions within the Logistics Assistance Center (LAC). You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient processing of inbound and outbound mail, packages, freight shipments, customer fulfillment requests, and inventory activities while meeting established service level expectations.

In addition, you will operate and maintain corporate vehicles or necessary equipment required for delivery. You will prepare and process outgoing packages according to LAC procedures. You will utilize your understanding of postal regulations and shipping knowledge to process and complete customer requests in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner, and prepare and process outgoing mail according to postal regulations. You will also process incoming Return Mail into Online tracking tool and sort inbound mail for Service Center distribution. Lastly, you will operate and maintain Quadient DS1200s and SMART postal accounting software. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications - Must have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related logistics work experience.
  • Mail Design Professional certification.
  • Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically, enter and validate data quickly and accurately, meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and re-prioritize work as needed while ensuring careful attention to detail.
  • Must have or be able to attain knowledge regarding postal regulations and logistics systems UPS, USPS, and other systems and shipping methods.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and effective verbal/written communication skills in a team environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and SharePoint.
  • Experience with package tracking software and handheld devices.
  • This is a non-office role. Need to have the ability to push/pull light objects weighing up to 25 lbs. or requiring up to 25 lbs. of force (mail cart, manual pallet jack); ability to push/pull carts containing up to 70 lbs. Role also has an essential function of lifting or carrying up to 50lbs., climbing stairs, ladders or similar equipment, and handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment/materials/or moving objects.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Availability to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications - Great to have:

  • Experience with Hasler HJ960 Ink-jet sprayer, PS100 or DS200 inserters, and IM5000 or WJ250 postage meters.
  • Experience with SqBx (Ubiquia) package tracking software.
  • Experience with UPS WorldShip and Campus Ship software.

Additional Information

What you will do:

a. Receive, record, and distribute internal accountable mail, packages and external shipments using package tracking software.
b. Complete interoffice pickups as requested by stakeholder using package tracking software. These include interoffice pickups, ship requests and Wellmark Courier requests.
c. Gather, sort, and deliver morning newspaper by the agreed service levels.
d. Successfully fulfill and deliver internal stakeholder requests for material used in office settings for items like paper, letterhead, and desktop ergonomic supplies.
e. Delivery of stocked paper items to Service Centers as needed to ensure an uninterrupted supply.
f. Sort, open and inspect incoming daily mail according to LAC protocols to ensure the mail is free of dangerous and or hazardous materials.
g. Deliver inbound mail to various stakeholders while adhering to agreed service level expectations.
h. Receive, inspect, and deliver packages, mail, and freight shipments according to LAC documented procedures to ensure all content is free of dangerous and or hazardous materials.
i. Support Dock Operations with purchase order receiving functions, such as identifying packages that require special processing and serving a back-up to the Dock Coordinator, as necessary.
j. Complete internal mailing requests according to USPS postal regulations and internal procedures to ensure accurate and timely delivery to vendors to meet stakeholder service level agreements.
k. Support the return mail process by processing return mail as time and workload allows following LAC documented procedures.
l. Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment, according to OSHA applicable guidelines.
m. Responsible for operating and maintaining corporate vehicles in accordance with local, state, federal laws and adhering to Wellmark policies while ensuring a professional demeanor.
n. Use a corporate credit card to purchase fuel for LAC corporate vehicles and other department needs as directed.
o. Perform scheduled daily van runs according to LAC documented procedures.
p. Perform courier service when needed to meet timing and requirements of requestor.
q. Complete internal interoffice mail processes including sorting of and delivery/pickup of internal correspondence to ensure accurate delivery to stakeholders.
r. Enter inbound return mail into departmental web tracking tool, based on numerous departmental standards for recordkeeping.
s. Set up, adjust, maintain, and operate all mailing, insertion, and ink-jet spraying equipment.
t. Other duties as assigned.

Office-based: The nature of the job duties for this position will require you to be in the office 100% of the time. Your presence in-office is critical to effectively perform the responsibilities of the role. Occasional remote work may be permitted based on workload and/or other ad-hoc situations that support it, with manager approval.
