Job description

About Stable
Our mission is to make it simple to headquarter any business on the internet. Today, we provide companies with a business address and a dashboard to manage their physical mail online. Over 15,000+ companies like Brex, Doordash, and Gusto use Stable to automate their mailroom and act as their permanent business address with the IRS, state, and vendors.
The rules that regulate US entities were written in the 1800s. Stable abstracts these antiquated requirements with tools that empower modern companies to move forward faster.
These rules don't make sense for the way we work today - work takes place in the cloud and businesses are no longer tied to physical proximity or geography.
We're on a mission to fix the broken system of entity management. Starting with business addresses and mail, we're abstracting the complex, archaic systems that make company-building painful and turning them into delightful experiences - so that modern businesses have the tools they need to move forward faster.
We're backed by leading Silicon Valley investors like Y Combinator, Craft Ventures, Shakti, Hustle Fund, and founders from companies like Lattice, Apartment List, and FlexJobs.
Our business is at an inflection point. We're growing quickly with a product people love and we've proven we can service companies of all stages and industries - from early-stage startups to publicly traded companies in industries like technology, logistics, and property management.
The Engagement
We're looking to bring on an experienced independent contractor to provide mail processing services at our Dallas facility. This is a 1099 contract engagement and is a great fit for someone who already operates in mailroom, fulfillment, or logistics services.
You'll be the contractor responsible for keeping mail moving through our Dallas processing center: receiving incoming mail, processing it through our software, and fulfilling customer requests like scanning, forwarding, shredding, and check deposits.
โ€ข What You'll Do
  • Receive, sort, and intake incoming mail and packages into Stable's software
  • Fulfill customer requests = scanning and uploading mail, forwarding via courier, returning mail, endorsing and depositing checks, and shredding
  • Apply barcodes and labels for tracking
  • Operate processing equipment (scanners, label printers, package scales, letter opener)
  • Coordinate with couriers and shredding vendors as needed
  • Keep an eye on supply levels and flag when restocking is needed
  • Resolve customer support requests routed your way within agreed response times
  • Flag damaged mail, processing errors, or equipment issues
  • Maintain a high standard of quality throughout all processing steps - accurate intake, clean scans, correct labeling, and careful handling to ensure every customer's mail is handled with care
  • Perform quality checks before completing fulfillment tasks to catch errors before they reach the customer

What We're Looking For
  • Prior experience in mail processing, mailroom operations, fulfillment, or warehouse/logistics work
  • Comfortable operating standard processing equipment and software systems
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy
  • Able to lift and carry mail and packages up to 30 lbs
  • Clear communicator - you'll coordinate with our team
  • Set up to operate as an independent contractor (sole proprietor, LLC, or other business entity) and able to provide a W-9
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Engagement Details
  • Type: 1099 independent contractor (not W-2 employment). No employee benefits, PTO, or healthcare provided.
  • Term: Initial [3-6 month] engagement, with the option to renew.
  • Rate: $25/hour Contractor paid on biweekly basis and is responsible for their own taxes.
  • Location: On-site at our Dallas processing facility.
  • Schedule: Contractor sets their own schedule within facility access hours, subject to mutually agreed coverage windows and service-level targets.
