Job Title: CNC Mill Setup OperatorJob Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC mills to produce high-quality parts in a medium-sized, climate-controlled shop. You will interpret blueprints and technical drawings, perform precise measurements, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area.

Responsibilities
  • Set up CNC mill machines and adjust settings as needed to meet job specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to plan machining operations.
  • Operate CNC mills to produce parts according to specifications and production schedules.
  • Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC mills to ensure reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.
  • Follow established procedures for inspection and quality control throughout the production process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding production status, issues, and improvements.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance, strong work ethic, and focus while on the shop floor.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC mill setup and operation, including adjusting machine parameters.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other inspection instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machining, assembly, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on CNC mills and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Capability to perform routine maintenance on machining equipment.
  • Consistently excellent attendance and reliability.
  • Positive attitude, strong effort, and willingness to learn.
  • Trainable and open to improving skills and adapting to changing production needs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Haas CNC equipment or similar CNC platforms.
  • Background in fabrication and mechanical assembly environments.
  • Demonstrated skill in blueprint reading and inspection practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under varying workloads, including quick-turnaround jobs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Work Environment

The role is based in a fairly laid-back, medium-sized shop with a mix of low-key periods and urgent, quick-turnaround projects. The facility is climate controlled and not noisy or loud, providing a comfortable work setting. This position works primarily on 1st shift, Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays are typically optional and only occasionally required, usually for a partial day until mid-morning or midday. You will work alongside a mellow supervisor and leadership that is present on the floor.
