Job description

Job Title: Mill Machinist
Job Description

We are seeking a CNC Mill Machinist to join our team on the night shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, editing, and operating 3-axis and/or 4-axis CNC Mills in accordance with blueprints and engineering drawings while maintaining tolerances of +/- .003. The role involves adjusting for wear compensation, offsets, feed and speed, and editing G-code and M-code, as well as performing first article inspections using precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, edit, and operate 3-axis and/or 4-axis CNC Mills.
  • Maintain tolerances of +/- .003 according to blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Adjust for wear compensation, offsets, feed, speed, and coordinates.
  • Edit G-code and M-code.
  • Perform first particle inspections using precision measuring instruments such as ID micrometers, OD micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
  • Machine a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic materials.
Essential Skills
  • 4+ years of CNC Mill experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools for inspecting parts (e.g., micrometers, calipers, depth gauge).
  • Experience in setting up CNC machines.
  • Experience performing edits at the controller (G-code/M-code, offsets, feed, speed, adjust coordinates).
  • Experience with drill press, grinding, lathe, and machine operation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a research and development shop environment.
  • Familiarity with machining a variety of materials, including exotic materials.

Work Environment

Work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility within a separate R&D shop building. The night shift hours are from 5:30pm to 5:30am, Monday through Friday, with potential for overtime and weekend shifts as needed. Training will be conducted on the day shift before transitioning to the night shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
